Patient Care Associate - per diem

Job Summary Working under the direction of licensed personnel, assists patients with activities of daily living tasks such as bathing, dressing, and eating. Also assists with taking patients' temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration. Essential Functions Performs patient care-related duties and clinical functions as assigned, including performing and documenting point-of-care vital signs, EKGs, bathing and other sanitary needs, transferring and assisting with ambulation, 1:1 patient observation for safety, and phlebotomy. Assists RNs and physicians with other exams and treatments as required. Completes all documentation such as height, weight, intake of fluids and food, output of urine/stool/vomit/other drainage, and blood glucose results in the Electronic Health Record (EHR). Assists patients with food tray setup, eating, and feeding as needed. Ensures patient rooms are stocked, equipped, and cleaned appropriately. Retrieves and sets up equipment, cleans equipment between uses, and reports malfunctioning equipment per organizational policy. Assists with admitting and discharging patients. Facilitates orientation of new PCA team members as directed. Interacts with patients, visitors, and other care team members effectively. Communicates with nursing staff effectively and in a timely manner regarding patient care issues. Fosters a positive, collaborative team environment that promotes teamwork and professional growth. Qualifications Education : High School Diploma or Equivalent (preferred). Licenses & Credentials : Basic Life Support (BLS) – HR Only preferred; Certified Medical Assistant (National Certification) – HR Only preferred; Nursing Assistant/Patient Care Technician (National Certification) – HR Only preferred. Experience : Experience working in patient care/elder care (0–1 year preferred). Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions. Knowledge of medical terminology. Strong patient/customer service skills. Ability to lift up to 35 lbs. Proficiency in computer skills for electronic medical records.
