Safety Manager

The purpose of this position is to design, implement and manage the corporate safety, quality, and regulatory compliance policies for all factories. The Safety Manager ensures compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal laws and champions the company’s safety and quality process improvement across all manufacturing, co-manufacturing, and warehousing locations.

Responsibilities:

  • Effectively implement Company’s key safety programs at all assigned facilities, working in close coordination with each facility’s resource.
  • Requires a “hands-on” approach, with significant active engagement with individual locations – indirect leadership skills necessary to drive results.
  • Conduct periodic Safety Compliance Assistance/Audit Site Visits to assigned facilities, following a standardized visit and review process.
  • Requires detailed engagement with operations to develop specific follow-up action items and implementation schedules
  • Establish and sustain appropriate programs and policies for maintaining an effective excellence culture.
  • Provide strong technical support, direction and oversight
  • Lead special projects/follow-up initiatives, as needed, to drive safety compliance.
  • Review and approve all required reporting to, interfacing with and responses to USEPA and similar state regulatory agencies.
  • Participate in Corporate Safety Initiatives, such as audits and team staff meetings
  • Demonstrate safety as a core value and establish a safe work environment by actively leading the safe execution of work.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (Master’s Degree - preferred) in Safety Manager, Business, Operations, Engineering or related field.
  • 20 – 30% travel is expected.
  • 10-15+ yrs. Professional/Leadership Safety experience, including extensive compliance experience. Multi-site responsibilities preferred but not required
  • Food, consumer products or closely related industry experience required.
  • Requires excellent administrative skills with good analytical and problem-solving attributes.
  • Proven ability to facilitate change.
  • Strong organizational skills to include: Tracking, coordination across multiple programs, effective reporting of status and results to executive level management.
  • Effective communication skills (written and verbal), team building and demonstrated leadership skills with all levels in the organization.
  • Must have Microsoft Office experience.
