About the role The role of a Manufacturing Engineer II is to lead engineering initiatives for the daily support of products, processes, materials, and equipment to meet operations goals. In a fast‑paced and dynamic environment, this position is primarily responsible for floor support and for supporting problem‑solving and process improvement projects within the Metals Core Technology business unit responsible for laser cutting and post‑laser processing of metal components. This role will require cross‑functional collaboration with Quality, Production, R&D, and Project Management teams to achieve goals, as well as update, improve, or add new manufacturing processes. Location & Work Requirements This role requires onsite work. Boston Scientific will not offer sponsorship or take over sponsorship of an employment visa for this position at this time. Responsibilities Monitor performance of equipment and processes, providing troubleshooting and root‑cause analysis of nonconformances, low yields, or other quality/production issues. Communicate effectively to an audience consisting of peers, operations management, and supporting divisions (R&D, Sustaining Engineering, Project Management, etc). Plan, organize, and prioritize daily work to meet production and project goals. Apply problem‑solving and process‑improvement methodologies to complex and diverse manufacturing processes across multiple product lines, driving root‑cause analysis and resolution. Train and/or provide work direction to manufacturing operators and technicians. Recognize quality signals and escalate appropriately within the quality system requirements. Lead projects with cross‑functional team members working towards common business goals. Work collaboratively with divisional customer teams (R&D, Sustaining Engineering, Regulatory, Supply Chain, Quality, other) to deliver on new product introductions, change management, process improvements, or business continuity projects. Gather, analyze, and summarize data—drawing conclusions, and reporting out to peers and management. Work with vendors/suppliers on technical design, procurement, and fabrication of materials, equipment, fixturing, etc. Define improvement opportunities, prioritize them, communicate them to the appropriate levels and see them through to completion. Plan appropriately for risks and respond positively to unforeseen problems. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (preferably Biomedical, Chemical, Manufacturing, or Mechanical) Minimum of 2 years of engineering experience Proven understanding of manufacturing problem‑solving, data analysis, and production flow tools (e.g., LEAN manufacturing) Proven ability to provide creative solutions and collaboratively draw ideas from cross‑functional teams Preferred Qualifications Experience with laser cutting / laser processes Experience with etching / electropolishing processes Ability to communicate at all levels of the organization Experience in the medical device industry Compensation Minimum Salary: $71,500. Maximum Salary: $135,800. Compensation may also include variable components such as overtime, shift differential, and annual bonus targets, depending on role classification.
