Registered Nurse - Endoscopy Mainland Campus- Part Time Days

Description Position Summary The Registered Nurse is a member of the interdisciplinary team working in collaboration with the Physician. The Registered Nurse utilizes the nursing care process consistent with their license and/or certification including initiation of culturally competent continuum of care including inpatient, outpatient and community settings. The Registered Nurse is responsible to oversee any necessary coordination of the interdisciplinary plan of care and provides for its consistency with the medical treatment plan. The patient care process includes: Assessment – an orderly process consisting of the identification, gathering and organization of subjective and objective data pertaining to the patient/family/significant other, including physical, psychosocial, spiritual and cultural. Planning – an organized step in the process that consists of the identification of actual or potential problems and desired outcomes (goals) that result in a documented plan of care. The plan of care provides direction for the patient/family/significant other and interdisciplinary team. Intervention – the specific interventions or orders that are implemented consistent with the plan of care and medical treatment plan. Evaluation – a step in the process that involves determining the effectiveness of the interventions in achieving the plan of care and determining the conclusions concerning the achievement or lack of achievement of desired outcomes. The evaluation may initiate the need for reassessment and revisions to the problems, goals, plan of care, and interventions. This step provides for documentation of required actions. Based upon findings identified during assessment and reassessment: Patients have problems identified and prioritized relative to biophysical, psychological, environmental, self‑care, educational and social status. Goals are identified consistent with the problem to provide direction for patient care and health promotion. Education is consistent with the identified problem and associated goals and is seen as critical to creating an environment that promotes patient empowerment Employee may be required to perform Limited Laboratory Services to include patient identification and preparation for specimen collection, processing samples for testing, performing required quality control testing and instrument maintenance and function checks, monitoring, recording and reporting tests results to clinicians to include critical values, and maintaining competency/certification of the aforementioned tasks and duties. Licensed and registered care providers responsible for utilizing the care process relative to their scope of practice and knowledge base, may document the assessment, plan, intervention and Evaluation. All patient care activities are administered according to standards, procedural guidelines and organizational policy. The Registered Nurse actively supports performance improvement initiatives and provides leadership to other members of the patient care team. By participating in educational activities, the Registered Nurse assumes responsibility for continued professional and personal growth. Emergency Room City 2 years medical/surgical and/or emergency room experience preferred. ACLS required within 6 months of hire or transfer. ATCN or TNCC is required within 24 months of hire or transfer. Minimum of 8 contact hours of education every 1 year in basic trauma assessment, intervention and stabilization. Minimum of 8 contact hours of education every 1 year in basic stroke assessment, intervention and NIHSS to be completed by 6 months of hire and continuously maintained thereafter. PALS or ENPC attained within 12 months of hire or transfer. Current staff is required to obtain CPI by 6/30/24. New hires or transfers; CPI required within 6 months of hire and continuously maintained thereafter. Trauma Bay Trauma experience required; 2 years preferred. ACLS, PALS & ATCN at time of hire. Harmony Trauma/ICU 2 years medical/surgical experience preferred; critical care experience preferred. ACLS required at time of hire. ATCN required within 3 years from date of hire or transfer. Intensive Care Unit (ICU)/(CTICU) 2 years medical/surgical experience preferred; critical care experience preferred. ACLS required within 6 months from date of hire or transfer. CCRN preferred. Cardiovascular ICU (CVU) 2 years critical care and cardiovascular ICU experience preferred. ACLS required within 6 months from date of hire or transfer. CCRN preferred. Heart and Vascular Unit (HVU) 2 years telemetry experience preferred. ACLS required within 6 months from date of hire or transfer. Harbor (PCU) 2 years telemetry experience preferred. ACLS required within 6 months from date of hire or transfer. Pines/3 Central Medical/surgical experience preferred. ACLS required within 6 months from date of hire or transfer. General Notes Medical/surgical experience preferred in many locations. ACLS required within 6 months from date of hire or transfer in most settings. CRRN preferred in critical care units. Pre‑Admission Testing (PAT) Medical/surgical experience preferred. Operating Room Medical/surgical and operating room experience preferred. Effective 1/1/25: all new OR team members must scrub and/or learn to scrub during their orientation within six months. ACLS required by 12/31/24 for all RNs in the City OR. CNOR preferred. ACLS preferred. PACU/Same Day Surgery/Recovery Room Critical care or PACU experience required. ACLS required at time of hire or transfer. PALS required within 6 months from date of hire or transfer. Intervention Radiology 2 years medical/surgical experience preferred; interventional and critical care experience preferred. ACLS at time of hire or transfer. PALS required within 1 year from date of hire or transfer. Cath Lab Critical care, emergency room, cath‑lab or telemetry experience preferred. ACLS at time of hire or transfer. Endoscopy 2 years medical/surgical experience preferred; endoscopy, telemetry and critical care experience preferred. ACLS required within 6 months from date of hire or transfer. PALS, CCRN, and CGRN preferred. Radiation Oncology (Cancer Center Institute) experience preferred. OCN preferred. Medical Oncology Infusion Services Oncology experience preferred. ONS chemotherapy and biotherapy competency provider required within 6 months from date of hire or transfer. OCN preferred. Structural Heart 2 years' experience in cardiology. Core Competencies Phlebotomy EKG IV insertion ACLS required at time of hire or transfer. Qualifications Education / License Graduate of an accredited school of nursing; BSN preferred. Nurses hired without BSN must be enrolled in a BSN program within 1 year and completion within 3 years. Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of New Jersey or current multi‑state license required. BLS required. Valid NJ Driver’s License is required for all employees in the Adult and Child Partial Programs. Experience Proficiency in clinical applications preferred at time of hire; incumbents within position will be trained appropriately and then skill will be required for this position within 30-60 days from date of hire. Specialty Certifications Emergency Room: 2 years medical/surgical or emergency room experience preferred; ACLS required within 6 months of hire; ATCN or TNCC required within 24 months of hire; Minimum 8 contact hours of education yearly in basic trauma assessment, intervention, and stabilization; Minimum 8 contact hours per year in basic stroke assessment, intervention, and NIHSS to be completed by 6 months of hire and maintained thereafter; PALS or ENPC attained within 12 months of hire; Current staff required CPI by 6/30/24; new hires CPI within 6 months of hire and maintained thereafter. Wound Care: Medical/surgical experience preferred; ACLS within 6 months; Wound care and HBO training required within 1 year of hire. Psychiatry: Medical/surgical and psychiatry experience preferred; QPRT annual education required within 6 months of hire; CPI required by 6/30/24. Labor and Delivery (L&D): 2 years labor and delivery experience preferred; ACLS within 6 months; NRP within 1 year of hire. Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU): 2 years NICU experience preferred; NRP within 1 year of hire. Mother/Baby Unit (OB): 2 years mother/baby experience preferred; NRP within 1 year of hire. Perinatology/ Material Fetal Medicine (MFM): 3 years labor and delivery experience preferred; EFM‑C certification within 12 months. Pediatrics: Medical/surgical experience preferred; pediatric experience strongly preferred; PALS required within 1 year of hire. Performance Expectations Demonstrates the ability to perform the department specific competencies as listed on the Assessment and Evaluation Tool. Lifting approximately 25‑50 pounds frequently; lifting 50‑100 pounds with assistance occasionally. Pushing and pulling of heavy equipment. Some departments require the ability to distinguish colors. Essential functions of this position are listed on the department specific Assessment and Evaluation Tool. Work Environment in the Electrophysiology Lab & Procedural Areas Potential exposure to hazards and risk of the hospital environment, blood‑borne pathogens, including exposure to infectious disease, hazardous substances, latex exposure, radiation exposure and potential injury. Considerable reaching, stooping, kneeling and crouching. Extensive standing (wearing lead) and walking, including stairs. Lifting approximately 25‑50 pounds frequently; lifting 50‑100 pounds with assistance occasionally. Pushing and pulling of heavy equipment. Transporting patients on stretchers unassisted. Manual dexterity to hand off instruments. Maneuvering in small work areas congested with cords, foot‑pedals and various equipment consoles. Moving patients from beds/stretchers to procedure tables and back to beds or stretchers. Some departments require the ability to distinguish colors. Essential functions of this position are listed on the department specific Assessment and Evaluation Tool. Reporting Relationship This position reports to the patient care unit or department leadership.
