Job Summary The Certified Nursing Assistant/ Home Health Aide is responsible for providing direct, hands‑on care to clients at their place of residence under the direction, instruction, and supervision of the Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). Job Responsibilities Assist the client in performing personal care activities such as personal hygiene, ambulation, eating, dressing, shaving, and physical transfer as assigned by the RN or LPN. Maintain a clean and safe environment, including light cleaning and straightening of the bathroom, bedroom, and living areas, washing dishes and laundry, and performing other related tasks. Perform designated tasks such as: Assist with reinforcement of dressing. Assist with toileting, use of bedpan and urinal. Provide catheter care, including changing the urinary catheter bag. Empty or change ostomy bags. Assist with use of devices for aid to daily living, such as a wheelchair or walker. Assist with prescribed range‑of‑motion exercises. Assist with prescribed ice cap or collar. Prepare special diets. Measure intake and output of fluids, temperature, pulse, respiration, or blood pressure. Observe appearance and gross behavioral changes and report to the RN or LPN. Supervise self‑administration of medication, including obtaining medication, verifying dosage, reminding the patient, and observing intake. Participate in the Performance Improvement (PI) program when requested to ensure effective implementation of the PI program goals. Attendance/Punctuality: Be consistently at work and on time. Dependability: Complete tasks on time or notify the appropriate person with an alternative plan. Physical Demands and Work Environment Regularly required to lift, carry, walk, sit, push, pull, and move continuously during work hours; must be able to lift or carry up to 25 pounds. Tasks include using hands to finger, handle, or feel; reaching with hands and arms; stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. Must stand and talk or hear. Vision requirements include close, distance, and depth perception. Frequently exposed to wet or humid conditions; noise level is usually moderate. Qualifications Education and Licensure: High School Graduate or GED preferred. CNAs must provide evidence of State of Florida certification. Home Health Aides must provide evidence of successful completion of at least 40 hours of required home health aide training. Experience: Minimum one year of personal care experience, verifiable through work references; must complete the agency’s employment and competency process. Knowledge and Skills: Bilingual (English/Spanish or English/Yiddish) preferred. Effective written and verbal communication, familiarity with database management software and word processing, negotiation of conflict, organizational skills with attention to accuracy and detail. On‑call availability. Computer knowledge: Microsoft Office, scheduling, and database software. Own transportation with a clean driving record and punctuality for client visits.
