In this role, you'll take orders, serve meals, prepare drinks, and make sure every customer leaves satisfied.If you thrive in a fast-paced environment, love connecting with people, and take pride in delivering a great dining experience, we'd love to have you on our team.What You'll DoNo two shifts are exactly the same, but here's what you can expect:Greet guests with a smile, learn their names, and create a warm, welcoming experience from the moment they are seatedPresent menus to guests, answer questions about menu items, and make recommendations upon requestTake food and beverage orders from guests, memorize or enter orders into the computer system for transmittal to kitchen staffServe food and beverages to guests and prepare or serve specialty dishes at tables as requiredPrepare hot, cold, and mixed drinks for guests and chill bottles of wine as neededCheck with guests throughout their meal to ensure satisfaction and take action to correct any issuesVerify guest identification to ensure minimum age requirements are met for the consumption of alcoholic beveragesPrepare itemized checks, collect payment from guests, and accurately report tip incomeClean tables and counters after guests have finished diningStock service areas with supplies including coffee, food, tableware, and linensStay knowledgeable of all menu items including bar offerings where applicableWash dishes and order product and supplies as necessaryAnswer the telephone promptly and provide friendly, helpful service to guests who callWork with co-workers as a team to ensure customer satisfaction and a pleasant work environmentMaintain strict adherence to personal hygiene, dress standards, and all Hy-Vee policies and store guidelinesReport to work when scheduled and on timeYour SkillsFollow detailed written or verbal instructions and work through tasks with a few concrete variablesPerform simple addition and subtraction, copy figures, and count and record accuratelyUnderstand and follow verbal or demonstrated directions and communicate supply needs orally or in writingWork effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced, guest-focused environmentReporting RelationshipsAccountable and Reports to: Store Director; Store Manager; Assistant Managers of Store Operations, Perishables, and Health Wellness Home; Food Service Manager; Market Grille Department Manager; Assistant Market Grille Department Manager; Service ManagersEducation and ExperienceNo education requirement; 0 to 2 years of related work experience preferredPhysical RequirementsFrequently stand and walk throughout a shift in sales, food service, or delivery areasWhere applicable to the role: ability to safely use sharp knives and blades for food preparationWhere applicable to the role: exposure to heat- and burn-related hazards associated with cooking, baking, or grilling equipmentWhere applicable to the role: ability to operate a delivery vehicle in accordance with applicable DOT standardsPerform repetitive standing, walking, reaching, and bending associated with order fulfillment, POS transactions, and cleaning/sanitation dutiesWorking EnvironmentThis is a fast-paced role in a store restaurant environment where you will be on your feet and in constant contact with guests and team members throughout your shift.
