THE POSITION Located in Honesdale, PA, Wayne County Human Services is seeking a skilled accounting professional with experience in grants, audits, and budgeting to support critical county fiscal operations. DESCRIPTION OF WORK As an Accountant 1, you will be responsible for the accounting activities that support the Combined Human Services fiscal team, specifically for cross program analysis and Area Agency on Aging (AAA) program. Your skills with accuracy, detail, and teamwork will be key for success in this role. Responsibilities include: Revenue Processing: Process incoming deposits and reconcile revenue and expense schedules with general ledger accounts; prepare adjustment vouchers to correct or close accounts Technical Guidance: Assist Fiscal Officers to ensure agency records comply with procedures, policies, and regulations Accounting Collaboration: Apply generally accepted accounting principles and procedures to transactions and situations as they occur; assist with budget to actual analysis, research, and other processes Audit Assistance: Help with required audit schedules, analyze and interpret accounting records and methods used to input transactions into the accounting program Prepare Reports: Prepare audit, budget to actual, and other reports as needed for internal review and submission for external requirements Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time employment Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. Occasionally, irregular hours, including evening and weekends, may be required. Employee may have occasional overnight travel out of county for meetings or training. Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position. Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non‑negotiable. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: One year as a Fiscal Technician and 15 college credits in accounting; or Five years of bookkeeping experience; and 15 college credits in accounting; or One year of professional accounting experience and graduation from a four year college or university, including or supplemented by 15 credits in accounting. You must be able to perform essential job functions. Legal Requirements: You must pass a background investigation. A conditional offer of employment will require a drug screening. This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law. Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
