Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN First Assist (RNFA) for an Operating Room position requiring robotics and surgical first assist experience at a Magnet-designated teaching hospital.

Details

• Acute hospital OR setting within a Magnet-designated teaching hospital with 186 staffed beds
• Works in the RNFA unit performing surgical first assist duties
• Day shift schedule of 4x10-hour shifts, 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM
• On-call responsibilities 1-2 times per week until 8 PM
• Weekend on-call coverage required every 2nd or 3rd Sunday from 7 AM to 1 PM
• Utilizes Epic EMR
• Cases include general surgery, GYN, neuro/spine, ortho/total joints, plastics, robotics, urology, vascular, and bariatrics
• Performs robotic-assisted procedures using Da Vinci and Da Vinci Xi Surgical Systems

Requirements

• Active RN license (CT or Compact) required, or must apply prior to submittal as CT license processing takes 15-21 business days
• Minimum of 3 years of RNFA experience required; 1.5 years considered for candidates with Level I trauma or travel experience
• Required certifications: BLS; ACLS and CRNFA preferred
• Required experience in robotics (Da Vinci systems)
• Preferred experience in total joints, spine, and plastics procedures
• Trauma Level I and Level II experience preferred
• Proficient in surgical first assist skills including suturing, tissue manipulation, clamping/cauterizing, and wound dressing
• One professional reference required for consideration
• Flu vaccine required with no declinations accepted
• COVID vaccine and booster required, with exemptions available only for religious or medical reasons

Additional Information

• Assist surgeons in the OR across a range of specialties including general surgery, gynecology, neuro/spine, orthopedics, and robotics-assisted procedures
• Perform surgical first assist duties such as tissue cutting, suturing all wound layers, clamping and ligating vessels, and inserting drainage tubes
• Facility offers free parking
• Up to 7 days of RTO can be auto-approved
• Local candidates are not accepted; candidates must live outside a 75-mile radius of the facility
• Former staff members must have been separated from the facility for at least 2 years to be eligible to return as a traveler
• First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
