Maintenance Mechanic - Greenhouse Location: Beltsville, MD Employment Type: Full-time; contingent upon contract award Openings: 2 Pay: $42.00 per hour, plus $9.00 fringe benefit Position Summary Maintain greenhouse facility systems that may include HVAC, humidity control, irrigation, utilities, controls, and other equipment supporting research continuity. Key Responsibilities Perform duties associated with the Maintenance Mechanic - Greenhouse position in accordance with contract requirements, FSE procedures, safety standards, and applicable regulations. Inspect, troubleshoot, operate, repair, maintain, document, or coordinate assigned systems, equipment, work orders, and service requests. Use safe work practices, proper tools, lockout/tagout procedures, personal protective equipment, and site-specific requirements. Maintain accurate logs, reports, records, work order notes, material usage, or other documentation as required. Communicate professionally with supervisors, team members, customer representatives, and facility personnel. Support emergency response, after-hours work, weekend work, or on-call requirements when needed. Perform other related duties as assigned. Required Employment Language Must be authorized to work in the US. No relocation assistance is available. Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. Relevant experience in facilities operations, maintenance, utilities, construction, trades, administration, or a closely related field. Applicable trade license, certification, journeyman card, or documented equivalent experience may be required based on final contract requirements. Ability to read, understand, and follow work orders, technical instructions, safety procedures, and site rules. Strong reliability, professionalism, customer service, and attention to detail. Ability to pass required background check, drug screening, badging, security, or site access requirements. Valid driver's license may be required for positions that operate company or site vehicles. Preferred Qualifications Experience working in federal, government, research, institutional, industrial, or commercial facilities. Experience using CMMS, Maximo, work order systems, safety programs, or formal maintenance documentation. Ability to work independently and as part of a multi-trade operations and maintenance team. Physical Requirements This position may require standing, walking, bending, climbing, reaching, lifting, carrying tools or materials, working in mechanical spaces, and performing duties indoors and outdoors in varying conditions. Specific requirements will depend on the final position assignment and worksite needs.
