Registered Nurse Oncology - PRN Nights

Bring your passion to Texas Health so that we are Better Together. Work location: Texas Health Fort Worth, 1301 Pennsylvania Ave. Fort Worth, TX 76104. Work hours: PRN II (7P-7A) as needed requires at least 3 shifts per 6 week schedule with occasional weekend and holiday requirements.

Fast-paced, high-volume Oncology Department (35 bed). Patients are admitted to this floor for multiple diseases such as leukemia, sepsis, lymphoma, melanoma, breast, kidney/pancreatic cancers, pain management, and med/surg overflow. This is a mixed acuity unit. You will have the opportunity to build your skills caring for higher acuity PCU patients with a lower patient ratio.

Qualifications

Here's what you need:

• Associate degree from an accredited Nursing program or Nursing Diploma required
• BSN preferred
• One-year experience as a RN required.
• Current RN licensure or compact licensure recognized by the Texas Board of Nursing upon hire
• Current BLS (required) prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly.
• CPI training within 90 days of hire (required)
• 2+ years of inpatient oncology RN experience and charge/preceptor skills (preferred)
• Successful completion of the ONS - Chemotherapy/Biotherapy Certificate within 6 months of hire required
• OCN - Oncology Certified Nurse within 2 years of hire preferred

What you will do:

• Delivers care to patients utilizing the Nursing Process
• Assesses the patient
• Plans the care of the patient
• Intervenes as appropriate
• Evaluates the effectiveness of interventions
• Incorporates age specific safety/infection control measures into patient care.
• Initiates action to meet patient and/or significant others need for information
• Maintains continuity of patient care inter-shift, inter-hospital, and while expediting out of hospital transfers.
