CookThe Cook is responsible for the timely preparation of meals for residents, guests and employees that are consistent with departmental policies and procedures and state and federal laws and regulations. Also responsible for cleaning all food preparation and service areas after meal service.Uses food supplies and equipment in an efficient manner to prevent waste.Prepares and maintains supply of food substitutes to accommodate resident choices, cultural, ethnic, and religious preferences.Uses food preparation equipment properly and follows proper cleaning techniques and preventative maintenance schedules.Handles, stores, and disposes of food supplies, and prepares food in accordance with departmental procedures and in compliance with state and federal regulations.Assists in receiving and storage of deliveries from vendors.Complies with the community's confidentiality and privacy practices and procedures related to resident and employee records.Other duties include:Sweep and mop floors as directedMust be able to cook a variety of foods in/on large equipmentCleans work tables, meat blocks, refrigerators/freezers, etc.Carries soiled utensils, etc. to wash areaReturns clean utensils to proper storage areas.Keep a sanitary area at all times.Obtains food supply for next meal.Assist in checking diet trays before distribution.Prepare to deliver snacks, etc. as instructed.All other duties assigned.The physical demands and work environment characteristics described herein are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential duties of this job.
