Senior Maximo SME Technical Functional Application Developer

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Maximo SME Technical Functional Application Developer based in Australia.

This is a strategic opportunity for an experienced IBM Maximo professional to support a major asset management transformation and upgrade initiative. You will serve as a technical-functional subject matter expert, helping configure, enhance, and optimize enterprise Maximo solutions. The role combines hands-on technical expertise with business analysis, stakeholder engagement, and solution leadership. You will contribute to the transition toward Maximo Application Suite (MAS) 8 while helping ensure system performance, accuracy, and alignment with operational objectives. Working with multiple stakeholders, you will translate business needs into practical and scalable Maximo solutions. The position is remote and offered on a 12–24 month contract, with flexibility for either full-time or part-time engagement. Accountabilities

• Act as a senior technical-functional subject matter expert for IBM Maximo Enterprise Asset Management solutions.
• Configure, customize, and enhance Maximo applications to align with business requirements and operational objectives.
• Support the upgrade and transition toward Maximo Application Suite (MAS) 8 , helping ensure a smooth implementation and stable system performance.
• Analyze technical and functional issues, identify root causes, and develop effective solutions throughout the upgrade and implementation process.
• Provide expert technical-functional guidance and support across Maximo applications and related business processes.
• Lead technical discussions with stakeholders and recommend best-practice approaches for Maximo Asset Management.
• Translate business requirements into application designs, configurations, and technical solutions.
• Work with the Maximo Integration Framework , Java, BIRT reporting, and related technologies to deliver robust solutions.
• Maintain accurate and comprehensive technical documentation covering system changes, configurations, and implementations.
• Help coordinate technical activities, manage priorities, and ensure project milestones and delivery schedules are achieved.
• Collaborate with technical teams, business stakeholders, and other project contributors in a multi-stakeholder environment.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of experience working as a technical-functional resource with IBM Maximo Enterprise Asset Management software.
• Strong experience with IBM Maximo 7.x and/or practical exposure to MAS 8 application configuration and support.
• Hands-on knowledge of the Maximo Integration Framework (MIF) .
• Experience with Java and BIRT report development/writing .
• More than 5 years of experience in Enterprise Asset Management, ideally including Maximo upgrade projects and business application requirements and solution design.
• Strong understanding of business requirements analysis, application design, configuration, and technical-functional implementation.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to diverse audiences.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, combined with a proactive and solution-oriented mindset.
• Ability to work independently while effectively collaborating with technical teams and business stakeholders.
• Experience with MAS 8 and Oracle PL/SQL is highly desirable.
• Experience with cloud service providers such as IBM Cloud, AWS, or Azure is an advantage.
• Strong preference for candidates with Oracle Database experience.
• Maximo Deployment Professional certification is an advantage.
• Candidates should be available for a 12–24 month contract and indicate their preferred full-time or part-time working basis.
