Snubbing Operator

The Snubbing Operator safely operates, coordinates, and supports snubbing unit activities at well sites, including rig-up, rig-down, equipment operation, routine inspection, maintenance support, crew coordination, and preparation of equipment for subsequent jobs. This position supports safe and efficient pressure-control operations, promotes quality service and customer satisfaction, and performs work in outdoor oilfield environments. A valid state-issued driver license is required; Class A or B CDL with air brakes endorsement is preferred. The Snubbing Operator must be able to perform the essential functions of a physically demanding field role while following company policies, job-site procedures, and all applicable safety requirements, including the exercise of stop-work authority when conditions are unsafe.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Responsible for ensuring hydraulic hoses, equipment startup, engaging of prime mover and hydraulic pumps are connected and operating correctly
• Has demonstrated knowledge of the function and location of all snubbing unit operating controls
• Responsible for assigned snubbing functions to ensure continuous production consistent with established standards.
• Follows proper rig-up and rig-down procedures
• Maintain required logbooks, inspection reports, and related operational documentation accurately and timely
• Complete pre- and post-trip inspections, and fuel and service units
• Maintain assigned equipment and perform daily inspections to ensure compliance with operational and safety requirements
• Report all operational deficiencies to supervisor and maintenance personnel
• Proficiently perform equipment inspection and maintenance as requested and complete paperwork
• Monitor well control parameters and calculations before and during job applications
• Maintain general housekeeping; clean, repair, and prepare equipment for subsequent jobs
• Operate equipment in accordance with company procedures
• Practice safe driving procedures when travelling to and from locations
• Communicate work instructions clearly and confirm understanding with crew members and other job-site personnel
• Follow safe work practices, support required safety procedures, and exercise stop-work authority when conditions are unsafe
• May be required to work outside of normal work schedule to meet customer needs
• Performs other duties as required

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent education required
• Valid state-issued driver license required; Class A or B CDL with air brakes endorsement preferred
• Minimum of two (2) years of snubbing experience and/or workover rig experience required; prior heavy equipment operation or maintenance experience preferred
• Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Outlook and Word
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with customers, visitors, vendors, supervisors, and employees
• Ability to meet job-related mobility requirements, including entering confined spaces as required; climbing ladders or access devices up to 15 ft.; and bending, stooping, twisting, standing, squatting, crawling, kneeling, walking, reaching, pushing, pulling, and working around snubbing unit and hydraulic equipment
• Must be able to lift up to 75 lbs. frequently and perform team lifts up to 100 lbs. when required
• Work is performed primarily outdoors in all weather conditions, including exposure to temperature extremes and high noise levels
• Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, in English
• Ability to interact with others in a team environment
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks at once
• Basic writing, math, problem solving and organizational skills
• Must be able to work a typical 12-hour shift, 14/7 rotation schedule, and travel approximately 60% as business needs require
• Reliable means of communication required; cell phone preferred
• Reliable transportation required
• Successful completion of pre-employment drug/alcohol testing and job-relevant post-offer screens, as applicable

Physical Demands and Work Environment

• Lift up to 75 lbs. frequently and perform team lifts up to 100 lbs. when required.
• Stand approximately 7 hours, walk approximately 3 hours, and sit approximately 2 hours during a typical 12-hour shift.
• Frequently bend, kneel, stoop, reach, push, pull, and handle equipment during rig-up, rig-down, maintenance, and operating activities.
• Occasionally climb ladders or access equipment up to 15 ft. and work in or around confined spaces as operational needs require.
• Use grip strength of approximately 80100 lbs. for tool handling, hydraulic equipment, rigging components, and related snubbing unit tasks.
• Work primarily outdoors in field environments with exposure to temperature extremes, high noise levels, pressure-control equipment, hydraulic equipment, and oilfield worksite conditions.
• Operate or work around snubbing units, hydraulic equipment, hand tools, and support equipment while following required PPE, safety, and job-site procedures.
• Typical schedule may include 12-hour shifts, a 14/7 rotation, extended hours, and approximately 60% travel depending on customer and operational needs.
