Overview Candidates should demonstrate outstanding academic achievement, including a strong law school record, references, and proven litigation and writing skills, with a preference for a technical degree or relevant work experience. California Bar admission is preferred but not initially required; Patent Office registration is a plus. Requires a strong understanding of patent laws. Work involves patent infringement litigation in district court, Federal Circuit appeals, PTAB proceedings, technology transactions, and patent‑adjacent matters like antitrust and trade secret cases. Associates are typically heavily involved in overall strategizing, briefing, depositions, and trial work. The role entails typically a considerable amount of client contact. Travel is sometimes necessary due to clients being located throughout the country. Full‑time associates are expected to strive for at least 2,000 billable hours per year on client matters, including pro bono.
