Truck Driver-Thrift StoreThe Truck Driver-Thrift Store is the link between donors of merchandise, recipients of merchandise and the St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Store. The Truck Driver-Thrift Store will help with the retrieval of donated goods, clothing, and furniture donated from individuals and families from the local community and surrounding areas.Essential duties and responsibilities include:Drive a pre-scheduled route, assigned by the Thrift Store Manager and/or Assistant Manager, to pick up donations and/or deliver merchandise to customers and clientsLoad and unload a variety of merchandise including furniture, bedding, appliances, household items and clothingAssist in using lifts, dollies, and other equipment for heavy items, as well as safety belts to prevent personal injuryOperate the vehicle in a safe and responsible manner, observing all rules of the road as well as those established by managementBe cognizant, at all times and under all circumstances, that the vehicle and its personnel are "ambassadors of goodwill" and a "moving billboard" for St. Vincent de Paul CARESBe responsible for the cleanliness of the vehicle and the need for preventive maintenance, including oil changesPerform other duties that may be assigned by the Manager or Assistant Manager including daily tasks and check listsComplete daily logs and adhere to the truck maintenance scheduleOther responsibilities include:Complies with all applicable training requirementsComplies with all company safety, personnel and operational policies and proceduresComplies with work schedule to ensure effective operations of Agency programsContributes positively as a member of a productive and cooperative teamPerforms other duties as necessary to fulfill the St. Vincent de Paul CARES MissionRequired knowledge, skills and abilities include:Able to speak, write and understand EnglishPossess basic computer skillsMust be sensitive to and respect cultural diversity amongst clients, staff, and volunteers and able to work with diverse racial, ethnic, and economic groupsFlexible work schedule including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidaysAbility to set appropriate limits, work under deadlines and multi-taskAbility to organize, prioritize, self-motivate, and deliver resultsExcellent communication and listening skillsPossess strong work ethicsSuccessfully pass Law Enforcement background screening.Valid Florida driver's license if driving an agency vehicle or a personal vehicle for company businessMust have reliable transportationParticipate in Agency Performance Quality Improvement (PQI) program and Accreditation/ Reaccreditation processMission-driven attitude supplemented with integrity and passionAdherence to the highest ethical standards, personally and professionallyA high level of openness and willingness to receive feedback/suggestions from superiors and others, and to learn new skills to improve job performanceEvidence of deep alignment with the St. Vincent de Paul CARES Mission and ValuesAdditional knowledge, skills and abilities include:Driving record must be free from violationsKnowledgeable on road and safety regulationsA knowledge of the south Pinellas County areaAbility to read road mapsExcellent driving record for at least 3-years prior to employmentEducation and experience:This position requires a high school diploma or GED certificateA clean Florida Driver's License (CDL preferred but not required)Employee benefits include:Health InsuranceLife insuranceDental InsuranceVision insuranceShort- and Long Term Disability120 hours of PTO accrued biweekly starting at day 1 of employment13 Paid Holidays to include Employee's birthday and Date of Hire403(b) with employer match up to 3%General physical demands:Working in an office/site requires prolonged sitting at the computer workstation; standing, bending, reaching, lifting up to 40lbs. and some driving. Requires manual dexterity sufficient to operate standard office machines such as computers, fax machines, calculators, telephones, and other office equipment. It is also required to regularly sit, speak, and listen, the employee is also required to walk, use hands and fingers to type, operate equipment, and maintain records and notes. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.Mental demands:Must handle new and diverse work problems on a daily basis. Must relate and interact with, volunteers, clients, contractors, visitors, and employees at all levels within the Agency.Work environment:Environment will occasionally become noisy due to equipment operations and interactions among clients and staff. There may be the possibility of being exposed to communicable disease, possible exposure to verbal abuse or similar behavior from residents/clients. On an as needed basis, employees may be called upon to work outside of the established work schedule or work odd hours.
