Orthopedic Physical Therapist

Novant Health is seeking an experienced Orthopedic Registered Nurse to join our Healthcare & Medical Services team. In this role, you will provide specialized nursing care to orthopedic patients across the continuum of care, including pre- and post-operative management, pain control, mobility support, and patient education. You will collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team to improve patient outcomes, ensure safety, and deliver compassionate, evidence-based care. Provide comprehensive orthopedic nursing care to patients undergoing joint replacement, fracture repair, spine surgery, and other musculoskeletal procedures. Conduct thorough assessments focusing on pain, mobility, neurovascular status, and skin integrity, and update individualized plans of care accordingly. Administer medications, including pain management therapies, and manage IV fluids and other treatments in accordance with provider orders and protocols. Monitor vital signs, surgical sites, and overall post-operative status, promptly identifying and escalating changes in condition. Perform wound and dressing care, manage drains and orthopedic equipment such as braces, slings, and traction as appropriate. Collaborate with orthopedic surgeons, advanced practice providers, therapists, and other team members to coordinate and optimize patient care. Educate patients and families about pre- and post-operative expectations, mobility precautions, use of assistive devices, and at-home care needs. Implement and reinforce fall prevention, pressure injury prevention, and infection control practices to maintain a safe care environment. Document all assessments, interventions, patient responses, and education accurately and timely in the electronic health record. Participate in quality improvement, unit-based initiatives, and continuing education to enhance orthopedic nursing practice and patient outcomes.
