Job Title Nurse 1 (Registered Nurse) – 20026502 (260003FD) Organization Rehabilitation & Correction – Madison Correctional Institution Work Location Madison Correctional Institute, 1851 State Route 56, London, OH 43140 Primary Location United States – Ohio – Madison County – London Compensation $92,000 Schedule Full-time Union 1199 Primary Job Skill Nursing Technical Skills Basic Medical Procedures, Medical Charting, Urgent and Emergency Care, Direct Support/Direct Care, Nursing Professional Skills Critical Thinking, Cultural Awareness, Decision Making, Problem Solving, Teamwork Job Description What You'll Do: Administers medication (e.g., oral, intramuscular, and intravenous) and monitors patient medication compliance Performs treatments and performs or assists with nurse's sick call Assists with doctor's sick call Performs or assists with nursing management of chronic care clinics Responds to emergencies, providing emergency care and cardiopulmonary resuscitation Performs subjective and objective assessment of patients Collects vital signs and documents all findings in a timely manner Collects urine and/or other bodily fluid specimens Prepares patients for release or transfer to other facilities by reviewing patient care, transfer summaries or release summaries Ensures discharge medication orders are completed and forwarded to pharmacy services Participates in work-related training and institutional training exercises Provides assistance to other healthcare staff Investigates and documents problem areas or areas of concern Reviews shift report from preceding shift(s) Assists physicians with medical procedures Assumes duties of other nurses during absences Counsels and provides education to patients regarding healthcare maintenance and prevention of disease Participates in quality assurance activities Provides training and work direction to new nurses, agency nurses, licensed practical nurses, and/or hospital aides Serves as a resource person for other healthcare and security staff regarding healthcare matters Provides orientation and training for new healthcare personnel at the direction of the Nursing Supervisor Serves as the lead clinical authority on site in the absence of the HCA, QIC, medical director and/or advanced level provider staff Participates in group programming Participates in health and wellness initiatives Performs administrative duties as indicated Schedules multidisciplinary team meetings Assumes the duties of shift charge as assigned by the HCA, making shift work assignments and adjustments as necessary Performs or assists with inventory and ordering of medical supplies Assists ancillary staff as needed to ensure patient care needs are met Starting pay is approximately $92,000 based on location/shift assignments. Qualifications Requires current licensure as registered professional nurse in the state of Ohio as issued by the Board of Nursing per Section 4723.03 of Ohio Revised Code.
