Groundskeeper

Under direct supervision, responsible for maintaining the campus landscapes and hardscapes. Work includes morning trash pick-up, maintenance of turf areas, flower beds, shrubs, trees, sidewalks, footpaths, and other ground-based areas. May assist with special events in making the campus a beautiful place to visit.

Minimum Education and Experience - High School Diploma or GED. Six months of work experience is acceptable in lieu of a High School diploma or GED. Must possess and maintain a valid Texas Driver's License and an acceptable driving record.

Preferred Education and Experience - Manufacturer's training certificates for equipment used in normal job duties. 1 – 3 years of grounds maintenance experience.

Other Qualifications - To the extent this position requires the holder to research, work on, or have access to critical infrastructure as defined in Section 117.001(2) of the Texas Business and Commerce Code, the ability to maintain the security or integrity of the critical infrastructure is a minimum qualification to be hired and to continue to be employed in the position.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities - Perform landscape maintenance, installation, or restoration; mow grass; install, care for, and removal of planting beds; remove debris from walkways and parking lots. Operate, maintain, and repair power equipment or other equipment required to perform these tasks. Assists with wide variety of outdoor campus events for preparation, setup, cleanup, or restoration as they occur throughout the year. Performs construction, routine maintenance, and labor tasks, and other duties as assigned. Must possess and maintain a valid Texas Driver's License and an acceptable driver rating as established in Policy: UTS157 Section 2.5.4.

Work will be performed on site and in-person. May be required to report to on-site work location during campus closure. May be required to report to on-site work location during inclement weather.
