Experience: Minimum of 1 year of worked or educational clinical experience in both general and critical care; Preferred: 2+ years of experience in a hospital setting providing respiratory care.
License: Current State License as a Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP).
Certifications: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) is required within 12 months of hire; BLS; NRP (if applicable).
Must-Have:
- Associate Degree from a CoARC accredited Respiratory Care program.
- Current State License as a Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP).
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).


Description:
A Respiratory Care Practitioner performs designated respiratory care and pulmonary diagnostic procedures.
These actions are in accordance with established policies and procedures.
Responsibilities include treatment, management, control, diagnostic evaluation, and care of patients with cardiopulmonary system abnormalities.
Respiratory care services include therapeutic treatment and diagnostic testing using medical gases and equipment.
Additional responsibilities involve administering medications to the cardiopulmonary system.
Ventilatory support, including maintenance and management of life support systems, is also required.
Other duties include bronchopulmonary clearance and breathing exercises.
The role entails patient education and performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
Maintaining natural and artificial airways is essential.
These procedures are performed in both critical care and non-critical care settings.
Successful candidates must perform job duties in accordance with organizational mission, vision, and values.
Additional duties may be assigned as necessary.
Preferred education includes a Bachelor's degree in Respiratory Care.
Membership in professional organizations is a plus.
