The MRI technologist will operate complex MRI scanners, use strong magnets and radio waves to create detailed internal body images for doctors, facilitate patient safety, proper positioning, select imaging techniques, administer contrast dyes, and ensure high-quality diagnostic scans by preparing patients, running daily equipment checks, and collaborating with radiologists. Patient hours are from 7:30AM to 6:00PM. Technologist shifts typically range from 10 to 12 hours. After training, primary coverage is needed on Thursdays and Fridays from about 7:00AM to 6:30PM, with additional shifts available as needed. This role primarily provides coverage for PTO, callouts, and occasional extended absences. There are no on‑call or weekend requirements. Position Summary This position performs prescribed procedures in accordance with department/facility policies, procedures and protocols, ensuring optimal care/treatment for the patient population. Core Functions Performs procedures by following and verifying referring providers’ orders, applying learned methodologies according to established policy and procedures. Educates patients/families regarding procedures and/or treatments to be performed, demonstrating professional behavior and fostering teamwork. Produces high quality images, prepares and presents them with other pertinent patient information for timely interpretation, and maintains accurate documentation. Performs and evaluates equipment quality control measurements, troubleshoots, and notifies appropriate personnel to maintain equipment performance. Maintains a safe environment for patients, personnel, and visitors, adhering to safety policies. Assumes ethical, legal, and professional responsibilities related to the radiology practice, including confidentiality of all work information. Ensures efficient operation of departmental workflow, monitoring inventory to prevent service interruption. Internal Customers All levels of medical imaging and nursing management and staff, medical staff, and all other members of the interdisciplinary health care team. External Customers Regulatory and health agencies; patients and family members. Minimum Qualifications National certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and/or modality qualified licensure (NMTCB, ARDMS, ARMRIT). Licensure by the state regulatory agency as applicable. Advance certification in MRI required within 18 months of hire. BLS certification required.
