BI Developer

BI DeveloperJMT Technology Group, a leading geospatial and information technology solutions provider, is looking for a BI Developer to join our team. The BI Developer will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining BI solutions of medium to high complexity. This role is ideal for someone who thrives on transforming raw data into meaningful insights and enjoys building scalable, user-friendly dashboards and reports that drive business decisions.Compensation for this position is $85,000.00 - $95,000.00, commensurate with experience, education and certifications. The provided range is a good faith estimate based on the requirements described within the job description. If so, the actual salary range may vary from the estimate provided.Essential functions and responsibilitiesPerform business analysis to gather BI report requirements of medium to high complexity across multiple projectsCollaborate with business stakeholders to understand their data needs and translate them into business intelligence solutionsPerform SQL development tasks of medium to high complexity across multiple projectsDesign and develop Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) processes to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and timely delivery for analysisUtilize Git-based version control, pull requests, and CI/CD processes to ensure quality, consistency, and maintainability of analytics code and data modelsDesign and maintain data marts using dbt to support enterprise reporting and analyticsIntegrate data and reports with dynamic reporting engines such as Tableau and Power BIEnsure data design is compliance with internal and external regulations and standardsDevelop mock-ups and wireframes to outline the look and feel of reports prior to developmentCreate attractive, data rich, and intuitive static reports, dynamic reports, and dashboardsProvide ongoing support and training to users on BI tools and data analyticsCollaborate with project managers, business systems analysts, UX designers, and application developers to deliver high-quality deliverablesLeverage mentorship and peer relationships to increase proficiency in developmentMentor and support junior BI developers, providing guidance on best practices, code reviews, and technical problem-solvingProvide estimates for development tasksInnovate and contribute to improving standards, techniques, tools, and processesAttend conferences, seminars, webinars, and/or on-line training on a regular basis to stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and industry best practicesNonessential functions and responsibilitiesPerform other related duties as assignedRequired ExperienceBachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field3-5 years of experience designing and developing Business Intelligence solutionsStrong proficiency in DAX and Power Query2+ years of designing and developing SQL solutions1+ years of experience using Git-based source control and collaborative development practicesExperience working in a code-centric development environment using tools such as Visual Studio Code and command-line interfacesExcellent verbal and written communication skillsPreferred ExperienceMicrosoft Certified Power BI Data Analyst AssociateProven record of leading BI projects from beginning to endAbility to communicate effectively with clients, project managers and other team membersExperience with ETL tools such as DatabricksFamiliarity with dbt (data build tools) concepts including models, tests, documentation, and best practicesKnowledge of data governance, security, and compliance standardsWorking ConditionsWork is performed within a general hybrid office environment. Work is generally sedentary in nature, but may require occasional standing and walking.
