Sr Employee Relations & Compliance Program Manager (WA, OR, ID, CA, AZ Only)

About the Role We are seeking a seasoned employee‑relations partner to serve as the Senior Employee Relations & Compliance Program Manager. This role focuses on shaping how BECU supports its people, protects its culture, and maintains compliance with employment laws while working closely with leaders across the organization. Location & Flexibility Candidates must be residents of Washington, Oregon, Idaho, California, or Arizona. Washington-based applicants who can commute to our Tukwila Headquarters are encouraged to work in‑office on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. All other qualified candidates may work remotely from approved locations. What You’ll Do Lead complex employee‑relations cases, guiding investigations and resolutions with impartial judgment. Advise leaders on employee concerns, corrective actions, separations, and workplace challenges. Ensure consistent application of corrective‑action processes in collaboration with leadership, employees, and legal. Serve as the go‑to resource for employee‑relations guidance and help teams navigate escalations. Design and improve HR compliance programs and policies, aligning them with federal, state, and local regulations. Manage external responses to agencies such as EEOC, FLSA, and FMLA, including clear communications. Partner with internal and external counsel on audits, hearings, litigation, and strategic case planning. Provide consultation on key employment regulations, including ADA, wage‑and‑hour laws, and leave management. Track regulatory changes and recommend policy updates to maintain compliance. Maintain audit‑ready records and documentation for internal and external reviews. Identify risk patterns, trends, and opportunities to strengthen organizational health. Continuously improve workflows and tools to increase efficiency in employee‑relations processes. Collaborate cross‑functionally with programs, leadership, and stakeholders to promote consistency. Support additional responsibilities to contribute to departmental and organizational success. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Business, Human Resource Management, or equivalent experience. Minimum seven years of human‑resources experience, including four years in employee‑relations. Experience conducting and leading complex employee‑relations matters. Preferred Qualifications Advanced degree. Expertise in ADA accommodations and interactive process management. Strong judgment and discretion handling confidential information. Comprehensive knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws, including EEO, FLSA, FMLA, ADA, and payroll regulations. Consultative, problem‑solving, and decision‑making skills with credibility. Collaborative, influential communication with leaders and employees at all levels. Experience reviewing documents, developing policies, and executing procedures. Data synthesis and analytical skill set for presentations and detailed analysis. Exceptional verbal and written English communication skills. Project management expertise, including presentation development.
