Number of Positions: 1 Work Location: Sacramento County Telework: Hybrid Job Type: Permanent, Full Time Responsibilities Under the general direction of the Information Technology Manager I in the Information Security Office, the Information Technology Specialist II - Senior Security Specialist performs a wide variety of tasks in support of the California Department of State Hospitals (CA-DSH), requiring regular innovative problem-solving within broadly stated and non-specific guidelines. The primary duties lie within the Information Security Engineering and System Engineering domains. Primary responsibilities include supporting the security aspects of the design, development, operation, and defense of IT systems and data, ensuring confidentiality, integrity, and availability while addressing disruptions ranging from natural disasters to malicious acts. Incumbents should also understand the duties required to ensure that all system components comply with federal healthcare regulations, including the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), as well as state requirements such as the Statewide Information Management Manual (SIMM) and the State Administrative Manual (SAM) Section 5300. System components include networks, servers, storage, operating systems, databases, applications, and all applicable hardware and proprietary software. Qualifications Knowledge of HIPAA requirements and relevant healthcare information security regulations. Familiarity with SIMM and SAM Section 5300 requirements. Experience with information security engineering and system engineering concepts across networks, servers, storage, operating systems, databases, applications, and hardware/software environments.
