Position: Community Economic Development Clinic Director Location: Albany, NY Job Id: 373 # of Openings: 1 ALBANY LAW SCHOOL, in New York’s Capital City, invites applications from entry-level and lateral candidates for the position Director of its Community Economic Development Clinic beginning in January or July 2027. The Community Economic Development Clinic is part of The Edward P. Swyer Justice Center at Albany Law School. Clinic students offer pro bono transactional legal services and community legal education to community-based entrepreneurs, community wealth building initiatives, rural and farming communities, nonprofits, and others in the community who lack access to affordable legal services in starting or running their businesses. This is a tenure-track or long term-contract track position. We are committed to the diversity of our law school community and we seek candidates with experience in teaching and mentoring students from groups historically excluded from higher education and the legal profession and whose work advances critical thinking on questions of importance to society. We welcome applications from qualified candidates with at least six years of largely transactional practice experience. The Clinic Director will, working alongside staff attorneys, supervise and train students as they learn corporate law, drafting, and deal-closing skills, including client counseling and interviewing, negotiation, advocacy, and public speaking. Students learn the importance of pro bono and professional responsibility by serving underrepresented and under-resourced populations in the local community. We seek candidates with a strong transactional practice background, excellent teaching skills, and the desire to help under-served communities develop entrepreneurial skills and opportunities.Spanish-language proficiency is a plus. Compensation The estimated salary range for this position is $90,000-$160,000 per year, plus comprehensive benefits package. Salary will be based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, knowledge, skills and abilities, and in consideration of internal equity.
