We are the experts in our industry.Essential Duties:The Sr. Process Engineer is responsible for improving existing manufacturing processes as well as implementing new equipment and manufacturing processes. The Process Engineer will develop and implement process technology to improve existing capabilities, with consideration towards safety, quality, cost, efficiency, schedules, and availability of raw materials. Suggest, coordinate, and implement capital improvement projects in line with Company business plans. To be successful in this position, you should be able to work effectively within a team and have a high level of technical expertise.Implements new equipment and manufacturing process to support company’s growth planDevelops and executes assigned CAPEX plans and spending. Justifies, selects, and implements new equipment ensuring RFQs, concept/design reviews and runoffs are completedResponsible for developing manufacturing technology and for improving manufacturing processes as they apply to the production of wire and cable productsLeads the implementation of assigned safety and ergonomic improvement initiativesLeads assigned projects dealing with cost reduction, equipment utilization improvement and downtime reduction, auditing quality control procedures, instructing manufacturing supervision in new processes and procedures, training of operators in new manufacturing techniques, and general “troubleshooting” of manufacturing processesMaintains contact with vendors to keep abreast of new processes and latest manufacturing methods and technologiesInitiates ideas, suggestions, and recommendations within the area of assigned projectsAssists in controlling manufacturing processes by specifying the most efficient use of equipment, materials, and manpowerDiagnosis of manufacturing problems as they relate to machinery, materials, and processes; identifies and implements appropriate corrective actionsDirectly involved in scrap reduction, primarily as it relates to the use of equipment, processes, and materialsActs to implement and support all programs related to operational improvements on the shop floorThese are the general duties required to fulfill the Process Engineer job description, not a detailed description of all work required. New duties and responsibilities may be required to meet the changing demands of the business.Education and Experience Preferred:Four-year Engineering or Manufacturing Technology degree, coupled with relevant work experienceWill consider equivalent work experiences in a wire and cable manufacturing environment in lieu of formal degree. Administrative training is preferredMinimum of five years technical experience in a Manufacturing Engineering, Production or related activity in a wire and cable manufacturing environment, or a minimum of ten years in any other industryExperience implementing and supporting safety and ergonomic solutions and programsProject Management experience required. PM certification preferredExperience implementing new equipment and manufacturing processes (selection, justification, validation, and commissioning)Availability to travel often to other MIEI manufacturing facilities for trainingLean Manufacturing experience/certification preferredSix Sigma experience/certification preferredAbility to effectively communicate with all organization levels, both orally and writtenStrong aptitude for combining technical and management disciplines.
