We are seeking a Heavy Haul Truck Driver to join our specialized logistics team with experience transporting heavy equipment, oversized loads, and out-of-gauge freight using RGN (Removable Gooseneck) and lowboy trailers. This role primarily involves daily port drayage, with occasional over-the-road assignments that may require overnight travel. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in hauling over-dimensional and out-of-gauge loads and be comfortable navigating complex permits, routes, and load securement requirements. This person will be driving to and from the VA Ports (VIG, NIT) and rail lines, and will have an active CDL- A license and TWIC card. The successful candidate will have a great work ethic and know how to safely operate heavy equipment as well as lashing, chaining, and binding. Person must also have a clean insurance record.  This person will work a 40-hour workweek and can earn up to $100,000.

Duties include :

• Operating RGN and lowboy trailers to transport heavy machinery, construction equipment, and over-dimensional loads across regional and national routes.
• Safely operate a tractor-trailer vehicle to transport goods to and from Virginia Ports and rail lines (most trips are local to the Portsmouth VA area, with occasional OTR required).  Comply with all Virginia Port Authority rules and regulations.
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles and report any issues or malfunctions to the Terminal Manager.
• Plan and execute routes based on size and weight restrictions, bridge laws, and permit requirements.
• Secure loads by properly using chains, binders, tarps, and other equipment in accordance with company policies and legal standards.
• Communicate effectively with the Terminal Manager, customers, and other team members to coordinate pick-up and delivery schedules and address any issues that arise.
• Maintain accurate records of mileage, fuel consumption, and hours of service.
• Maintain a clean and orderly vehicle, both inside and out, and report any maintenance or repair needs promptly.

Position Requirements:

· High school diploma or GED

· Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with a clean driving record, TWIC card and DOT medical card

· Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening and background check.

· Heavy hauling and over-dimensional/out-of-gauge experience is required

· Smart phone or computer experience is required

· Must be able to physically stand, sit, move, squat, walk, and climb during the course of the shift

· Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds or more above your head

· Occasional night and weekend work will be needed

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills

· Understand DOT safety requirements and, if HAZMAT certified, hazard material handling and transport requirements

· Good knowledge of local roads and highways, as well as federal and state transportation regulations.
