Job SummaryPort Corpus Christi Authority (PCCA) is currently seeking a dynamic professional to join our team! This position is under the direct supervision of the HVAC Technician, Maintenance Group Supervisors, Assistant Maintenance Manager, and Sr Logistics Manager to operate, maintain, repair and install heating, ventilation, air-conditioning equipment and all related equipment and services.ESSENTIAL FUNCTION:Assists with preventative maintenance procedures for all HVAC equipment including system operational checks, cleaning of all coils and replacement of capacitors.Diagnoses and repairs malfunctions on all heating and air conditioning systems. Repairs or replaces heating and air conditioning systems and components; to include replacement of filters, compressors, reversing valves, fan motors, electrical componentsProcures parts, materials and equipment necessary to complete jobsAbility to read and interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, equipment manuals, service manuals, and HVAC control diagramsAbility to identify system inefficiencies and recommend appropriate repairs or corrective actionsAssists with basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting or mechanical work to achieve maximum departmental efficiencyAssures work area, tools and equipment are cleaned upon completion of assignmentsInterprets company policies to crew and ensures adherence to company policies and proceduresPromotes safety awareness and environmental consciousness and complies with all procedures and regulationsDrives vehicles as necessary to complete assigned dutiesPerforms other duties as assignedCPR certified or ability to become CPR certified within the first year of employmentTier 1 status designationCANDIDATE PROFILE The preferred candidate for this position should be an organized, thorough, and disciplined individual with a focus on maintaining optimal integrity in support of the PCCA. They must possess the following:EDUCATION & CREDENTIALSHigh school diploma or equivalent; minimum two years formal education from an accredited college, university or trade school preferredMinimum 3-5 years' experience in commercial and residential HVAC preferredValid driver's licenseAbility to obtain and maintain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) during course of employmentEPA Section 608 Refrigerant Certification requiredFamiliarity with digital thermostats, building automation/control systems, and modern HVAC controls is preferredProven experience installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing HVAC equipment and related mechanical and electrical systemsTECHNICAL SKILLSAbility to speak, read and write EnglishAbility to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedural manualsMust have good communication skills, both verbal and written, to communicate in a clear and concise manner with other electricians, technicians, engineers, supervisors and management teamAbility to write routine reports and correspondence, and speak effectively before employeesAbility to perform mathematical computations (i. e. rate, ratio and percent) in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimalsAbility to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form and to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situationsProficiency in MS Office, including Word and Excel, Outlook and other related applicationsAbility to understand, interpret, and apply all PCCA policies, promotes and adheres to the SEAPORT values, state/federal lawsMaintain good employee relations and encourages and fosters a helpful environment where teamwork prevails.
