Location: Suffolk, VA

Pay: $21.00-$24.00 per hour (based on experience)

We're seeking a reliable and experienced Warehouse Receiving Lead to oversee receiving, inventory control, and yard operations in our new climate-controlled distribution facility in Suffolk. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who enjoys taking ownership, maintaining accuracy, and helping keep warehouse operations running safely and efficiently.

What You'll Do

• Lead daily receiving activities and ensure accurate processing of inbound shipments
• Safely operate a sit-down propane forklift to unload and move materials throughout the warehouse
• Inspect incoming freight for accuracy, shortages, and damages
• Complete receiving transactions and inventory updates using a Warehouse Management System (WMS)
• Organize and maintain warehouse storage locations and receiving areas
• Perform cycle counts and support inventory accuracy initiatives
• Conduct daily yard inspections and maintain container tracking records
• Prepare and distribute daily yard and receiving reports
• Monitor inventory levels of pallets, shrink wrap, and other warehouse consumables and coordinate replenishment as needed
• Support dock operations, staging activities, and material flow throughout the facility
• Serve as a key resource for warehouse personnel and provide backup support for receiving functions when necessary
• Identify and communicate inventory discrepancies, equipment concerns, and safety issues
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe warehouse and yard environment
• Support continuous improvement efforts focused on efficiency, accuracy, and safety

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications

• Previous experience in warehouse receiving, inventory control, or distribution operations
• Experience operating a sit-down propane forklift
• Strong understanding of receiving procedures and inventory management practices
• Experience using warehouse management systems (WMS) or inventory software
• Basic to intermediate computer skills, including Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with team members
• Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and work in both warehouse and outdoor yard environments

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in a lead or coordinator warehouse role
• Knowledge of yard management and container tracking
• Experience performing cycle counts and inventory audits
• Experience in supply chain, logistics, or distribution operations

Work Environment

This position works between a modern warehouse and outdoor yard area. You'll operate material handling equipment, utilize warehouse management software, and coordinate receiving activities that are critical to daily operations. The role requires regular walking, lifting, forklift operation, and communication with warehouse staff and leadership.

Job Type & Location: This is a Contract position based out of Suffolk, VA.

Pay and Benefits: The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $23.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
