Medical Assistant

REPORTS TO: Operations Manager

PROFESSIONAL SUMMARY
Responsible for assisting doctors and mid-levels in a busy ENT office providing care to their patients. Their duties include recording and updating medical histories and contact information in patient charts, and scheduling patient appointments.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Primary Job Responsibilities:
1. Triage patient and record patient medical history and specific information associated with visit.
2. Prepares patients for examination by performing and recording initial vitals such as blood pressure, temperature, weight.
3. Reports irregular indicators or adverse reactions to physician.
4. Clean and prepare exam and treatment rooms.
5. Organize and maintain supplies and equipment for treatments, sterilizing instruments as needed.
6. Assists physicians and mid-levels with physical examination and treatments and performs surgical preps and simple dressing changes.
7. Responsible for maintaining patient medical records to ensure accurate and effective treatment.
8. Enters physician orders for tests, procedures, etc. into computer systems. Schedule tests and treatments, as ordered by the physician.
9. Maintains a clean, neat, and safe environment. Activities may include but are not limited to tidying room, cleaning equipment, changing bed linens, restocking work areas, keeping rooms and hallways clear of debris, emptying trash, cleaning cabinet surfaces, and completing discharge room cleans.
10. Cross train in other departments in the office.
11. Other duties assigned by the Operations Manager or Physicians.
License/Certification (Preferred)

• Graduate of Medical Assistant program or Military Hospital Corpsman
• Current BLS card (CPR)

Education:

• High school or equivalent (Preferred)

Experience:

• EMR systems: 1 year (Preferred)
• Vital signs: 1 year (Preferred)
