The RN Program Coordinator is a hospital or care site level leader who provides specialized clinical expertise, consultation, education, and research within their designated area or specialty focus that may impact many or most hospital or care site departments. This position ensures compliance with state, national, and other regulatory agency requirements for disease-specific programs and centers of excellence. \n

\nThe coordinator ensures optimal patient care using evidence-based, clinical best practice models, appropriate staffing, technologies, and continuous process improvement measures. The RN Program Coordinator is typically based at a hospital or care site but may have oversight for relevant processes at referring facilities.\n

Essential Functions:

• \n

  Coordinates care across the continuum, including planning and implementing clinical protocols and practice management guidelines, monitoring care, and serving as an expert resource in specialty area for clinical practice. In partnership with nursing leaders, contributes to the development and review of care protocols, policies, and procedures that promote an organized and effective program.

\n
• \n

  May provide managerial oversight for program personnel, assist in annual strategic planning and budgetary planning, and act as a consultant/liaison for various stakeholders.

\n
• \n

  Provides ongoing evaluation of program effectiveness and efficiency. Develops and maintains the process improvement program, monitors clinical outcomes and quality of care, and outlines corrective actions. Involved in patient experience efforts and monitors patient perception of care quality.

Minimum Qualifications:

\n

\n
• \n

  Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN) in state of practice.

\n
• \n

  Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification for Healthcare Providers

\n
• \n

  Bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN) from an accredited institution (degree will be verified). Registered Nurses (RNs) hired or promoted into this role must obtain their Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) within four years of hire or promotion date. If there is an existing education agreement, that agreement will take precedence.

\n
• \n

  Demonstrated expertise in disease specific care.

\n
• \n

  Proven applicable nursing experience over several years.

\n
• \n

  Demonstrated experience with quality management programs including registry data collection.

\n
• \n

  Proficient in computer skills, including creating graphs, tables, and trend reports.

\n
• \n

  Demonstrated critical thinking skills, data organization, management, and analysis skills.

\n
• \n

  Demonstrated experience in educational program development.

\n

Preferred: 

\n \n

• \n

  3-5 Years Ortho or Neuro Surgery Circulating Experience in a Level I or II hospital setting

\n
• \n

  At least one year RN coordinator or Charge RN experience

\n

\n \n

\n

\n
• \n

  Current specialty certification(s) as appropriate for unit or service 

\n

\n

\n

\n

Physical Requirements:

• \n

  Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, documents, monitors, identify equipment and supplies, and be able to assess customer needs.

\n

  Frequent interactions with providers, colleagues, customers, patients/clients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, needs, and issues quickly and accurately.

\n
• \n

  Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use for typing, accessing needed information, etc.

\n
• \n

  May have the same physical requirements as those of clinical or patient care jobs, when the leader takes clinical shifts.

\n
• \n

  For roles requiring driving: Expected to drive a vehicle which requires sitting, seeing and reading signs, traffic signals, and other vehicles.

The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience.
