Practitioner I Salary: $20–22 per hour, depending on experience. Schedule: Must be flexible for clients' needs. Job Summary The Nurturing Parenting Program Practitioner I provides direct parenting education and supervised visitation services to families involved with the Department of Child Safety. This role supports child safety and family stability by assisting caregivers in developing protective capacities through culturally responsive, trauma-informed, and family-centered services under close supervision. Responsibilities Provide parent skill-building services individualized to family needs, culture, and readiness for change using Nurturing Parenting curricula. Meet with parents or caregivers up to two (2) hours per week to support development and strengthening of parenting skills. Monitor, observe, and document interactions and behaviors between parents/caregivers and children during supervised visits or in‑home observations. Model appropriate behavior, communication, and de‑escalation techniques during family interactions. Support services that strengthen family protective factors and enhance caregiver capacities to promote child safety in the home. Establish and maintain confidential case records for each client receiving services. Document all case activity including communications, visitations, skill sessions, missed appointments, and interactions with DCS personnel, placements, and related parties. Prepare and submit required documentation including progress notes, statistics reports, daily activity logs, incident reports, and special concerns. Work cooperatively with the Department of Child Safety (DCS) to support assessments, service planning, required reports, and meetings. Develop caring, supportive, strength‑based, culturally competent, and trauma‑informed relationships with clients and community partners. Maintain professional representation of A New Leaf in all interactions with families, staff, and community members. Attend meetings, trainings, and special projects as requested by management. Assist with maintaining the appearance, cleanliness, and organization of program facilities and equipment. Qualifications Education High School Diploma or GED required. Experience Two (2) years of work experience in the child welfare or related human services field. Experience working with multi‑problem families and complex family systems. Knowledge of family dynamics and family‑centered service approaches. Knowledge of community resources and ability to assist families in accessing services. Experience supporting families impacted by substance abuse, child abuse and neglect, trauma, sexual abuse, or related challenges. Working Conditions / Physical Requirements Work is performed in a combination of office settings, client homes, and community environments. Services may be provided any day of the week, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, based on family availability and program needs. Frequent travel within the community to provide services and attend meetings. Use of personal vehicle for program‑related travel. Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, and drive for extended periods throughout the workday. Ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs. of materials or supplies. Exposure to emotionally sensitive and potentially high‑stress family situations. Ability to manage multiple tasks and competing demands in a fast‑paced environment. Must maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions. Valid unrestricted driver’s license. Current auto liability insurance. 39‑month motor vehicle record. Adhere to all organizational policies, including the Code of Conduct, professional standards, and relevant regulations. Mandated Reporter Requirements As a mandated reporter under Arizona statute A.R.S. § 13‑3620, you must immediately report any suspected abuse or neglect of a minor to your supervisor, manager, director, clinical director, or chief officer, who will assist in making the appropriate report to authorities. Reports should be directed to either the local law enforcement agency or child protective services (1‑888‑SOS‑CHILD). Abuse suspected of involving a family member or legal guardian should be reported to child protective services, while other cases should be reported to law enforcement.
