Key statistics:950+ Consultants640+ Ph.D.s90+ Disciplines30+ Offices globally Our Opportunity We are currently seeking an experienced Managing Scientist for our Ecological and Biological Sciences Practice to be based in our Philadelphia, PA or Burlington, MA office. In this role you will work as part of a team to provide technical support on existing projects and business development efforts in the Biological and Ecological Sciences Practice. You will be responsible for Strategic business development and client networking with the aim to grow a broad range of science and engineering technical services related to global fate and transport of chemicals, their associated potential risks, and impacts to regulatory initiativesUnderstanding and interpreting water resources and land-use activities, focusing on emerging chemicals and associated products (e.g., plastics and microplastics), including government regulations, environmental monitoring, site infrastructure, and production processesDirecting and supporting the conduct of analyses and preparing regulatory documents and expert reportsSynthesizing technical information and applying creative and critical thinking to prepare and review reports and technical presentationsDeveloping and maintaining professional status by authoring peer-reviewed publications, and participating in technical conferences and activities of professional societiesWorking cooperatively on projects with other members of the Ecological and Biological Sciences Practice and interdisciplinary groups from other Exponent practices as appropriate You will have the following skills and qualifications Ph.D. in Water Resources, Ecology, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Chemistry, or another related fieldMinimum of 7 years of professional experience, with at least 4 years of direct consulting experienceExpert-level knowledge of emerging chemicals and plastics/microplastics in the environmentStrong understanding of scientific sampling methodologies and state-of-science on a broad range of terrestrial, wildlife, soil, and water quality issuesProven experience with data analysis, modeling, and statisticsProven experience in the assessment of riskProven experience managing tasks of moderate scope and complexityAbility to work independently, prioritize multiple projects and tasks with competing deadlines, and communicate within multidisciplinary teamsDemonstrated ability in written and oral communicationsStrong commitment to personal development and the development of staffNot required but any of the following experiences would be a plus:Understanding of federal, state, and local laws, rules, and regulations pertinent to water quality and related environmental sciences, including ESA, NEPA, TSCA, REACH, RCRA, CERCLA, and Clean Water Act in the U.S. and similar laws and regulations in other countriesExperience in addressing both proactive and litigation-related mattersPresently legally authorized to work in the United States. Exponent's total compensation plan is consistent with its expectations of the quality and quantity of work performed and with the professional standards set by Exponent. At the Manager level and above total compensation includes base salary, annual bonus, and 401(k) employer contribution of 7% of base salary.The base salary range for this position is dependent on experience and capabilities which will be assessed during the interview process. Salary Range USD $136,000.00 - USD $166,000.00 /Yr.
