Life Support Laboratory Team Lead $28.00/HR

Overview: Responsible for the overall operation of the Life Support Laboratory including staffing, inventory control, water chemistry, quality control, and adherence to governmental and safety policies. Responsibilities: Responsible for the overall safe and efficient operation of the Life Support Laboratory · Operate and maintain all related equipment and chemical processes · Assist in preparation of annual budget under the direction of the Life Support Supervisor · Oversee the purchasing of new materials and supplies for the Laboratory · Communicate testing results to Attending Veterinarian Team and Management via the OERCA Animal Welfare Application · Communicate testing results to the Life Support Team for real time adjustments · Oversee the Laboratory’s safety program and enforce safety policies and procedures · Interface with regulatory agencies and accrediting organizations to maintain all standards accordingly. · Work in concert with Life Support Supervisor to ensure all facilities are complaint with both regulatory and accrediting organization as appropriate. · Enforce all departmental policies as needed; follow and enforce all polices of Six Flags Discovery Kingdom · Other duties as requested Qualifications: 1-3 years previous experience as a Water Quality Laboratory Technician (AZA or ZAA Affiliation Preferred) · AALSO Water Quality Certification Preferred · Experience with OERCA Animal Welfare Application preferred · Must have a thorough working knowledge of water chemistry, as it applies to a wide variety of systems including marine mammal, fish and avian systems · Must be able to work in all types of weather both indoors and outdoors · Must be able to deal effectively with other professionals and governmental agencies · Must possess excellent organizational skills · Must be able to work evenings, weekends and holidays · Must possess good corrected/uncorrected eyesight.
