Job Title: Registered Nurse - Labor and Delivery Profession: Nursing Specialty: Labor and Delivery Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Nights Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 3 years of Labor and Delivery experience License: Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP, AWHONN Advanced Fetal Monitoring Must-Have: 1. A minimum of 3 years of Labor and Delivery experience outside of training. 2. Minimum of 3 travel assignments. 3. Comfortable with EPIC charting. 4. Comfortable with circulating in the operating room. 5. Experience with Labor, Delivery, Recovery, and Postpartum care. Description: The unit averages 105 births per month. Travelers are expected to be a resource for newer nurses. RNs may be required to titrate drips such as magnesium, Pitocin, and insulin. Charge nurses do not take patient assignments most of the time. The unit does not have nurse aides or surgical techs. Neonatologists are available but not in-house. An OB hospitalist program is present 85% of the time. The facility requires flexibility to work weekends and holidays. There may be a call requirement for low census shifts. Travelers may float between Labor and Delivery, Postpartum, and PACU. Scrub colors and dress code are provided by the unit. Travelers will receive orientation specific to the department. Candidates must be confident and capable of managing the entire labor process independently. The patient population has high expectations for customer service. Additional questions may be asked regarding recent use of EPIC and comfort levels in both Labor and Delivery and Postpartum assignments. Travelers should be prepared for certain cancellation provisions during the assignment.
