Job Status: This position is full time. HRDC also offers flexible schedules and a "reduced work week", which encourages full-time staff to use up to 4 paid hours weekly for their personal wellness.

Schedule: This position will be off of work every year during the month of July.
General Summary of Purpose of this Position:
The Site Supervisor provides leadership and oversight for a designated Head Start center, ensuring high-quality early childhood services that meet program standards and state licensing requirements. This position supports staff development and professional growth, contributes to staff recruitment and hiring, and serves as a key resource for staff, families, school districts, and community partners. The Site Supervisor is also responsible for ensuring compliance with program requirements, maintaining required documentation and reports, and supporting efforts to secure non-federal share contributions.
Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Supervisory and Center Oversight Responsibility (60%)
Directly supervises teaching staff, classroom support staff, substitutes, volunteers, and food service personnel in the assigned center.
Ensures implementation of Head Start Program Performance Standards, program policies, action plans, and School Readiness Plans.
Conducts ongoing classroom observations, coaching and feedback to support staff development, instructional quality, and continuous improvement.
Position is expected to maintain a regular on-site presence during program operating hours, with occasional off-site responsibilities including meetings, training, and program-related activities.
Works in collaboration with the Education Manager to develop and implement professional development plans aligned with staff needs and credentialing requirements.
Supports instructional quality monitoring, including CLASS observations, feedback, and follow-up coaching.
Monitors and supports key program components including home visits, parent conferences, field trips, attendance, and family engagement, working closely with teaching and family support staff to improve outcomes.
Participates in IEP and transition meetings as needed and supports the implementation of intervention and action plans.
Coordinates classroom coverage for staff absences, including providing direct classroom support when needed. Ensures center health, safety, and facility needs are addressed through regular walkthroughs and follow-up on identified issues.
- Family Engagement, Communication & Collaboration (25%)
Communicates regularly and effectively with parents, children, staff, and community professionals to support high-quality services and positive outcomes for children and families.
Provides leadership for classroom Action Plan meetings and participates in staff meetings to support coordinated service delivery.
Supports planning and implementation of family engagement activities, including screenings, parent education opportunities, and literacy events.
Works collaboratively with staff to identify children who may need additional assessment or support services and ensures appropriate follow-up.
Coordinates and supports transitions for children and families entering Head Start and transitioning to public school systems, serving as a transition liaison for assigned children.
- Reporting and Record keeping (10%)
Prepares and submits monthly monitoring reports to the Head Start Director summarizing classroom monitoring activities and Education Focus Area outcomes.
Collaborates with the Education Manager to maintain required Education Focus Area documentation, including lesson plans, field trips, developmental screenings, child assessments, individual child plans, and child outcomes.
Maintains accurate and organized records of Education Focus Area correspondence with parents, staff, and community partners.
Tracks and maintains records of classroom supplies, materials, and equipment.
- Corporate Engagement (5%)
Attends monthly all-staff meetings
Reads employee communications and weekly newsletters
Education and Experience:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Special Education, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
Experience:
Minimum of two years of experience in early childhood education
Supervisory experience preferred, ideally in a Head Start or similar program
Experience working with children and families from diverse socioeconomic, cultural, and educational backgrounds, including low-income populations.

- This position works under general supervision and is responsible for managing daily center operations. The Site Supervisor exercises independent judgment in prioritizing work, supporting staff, and ensuring services are delivered in accordance with program policies, procedures, and applicable regulations.
This position supervises the following position(s):
- This position directly supervises Teachers, Assistant Teachers, Classroom Aides, and Cooks, and provides oversight for substitutes and volunteers in assigned classrooms.
This position has the following supervisory responsibilities:
- This position assigns and reviews staff work to ensure quality and compliance with program expectations. Participates in hiring, discipline, and personnel actions in collaboration with program leadership. Mediates and supports resolution of staff conflicts within classrooms and teams. Provides technical assistance, coaching, and resources to classroom staff to support high-quality service delivery.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to analyze information, prepare reports, and present information to staff, families, and community partners
Ability to read, interpret, and apply regulations, policies, procedures, and program standards
Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills with the ability to identify issues and develop practical solutions in a dynamic environment
Ability to collect, interpret, and use program data to support decision-making and compliance
Proficiency with standard office software (word processing, spreadsheets, email) and electronic data systems (e.g., ChildPlus) for recordkeeping and reporting
Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and prioritize multiple responsibilities
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse cultural, socioeconomic, and educational backgrounds
Ability to maintain confidentiality and respond professionally to sensitive situations involving children, families, and staff
Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and respond appropriately in crisis or urgent situations
Willingness to travel within the service area and attend required training
Regulatory Knowledge:
- Knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local regulations, including Head Start Program Performance Standards, IDEA/ADA, child care licensing requirements, CACFP, and child abuse reporting laws
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
Valid driver’s license
Current CPR and First Aid certification (or ability to obtain upon hire)
Ability to meet health requirements, including pre-employment physical as required
Successful completion of background checks and required child abuse/neglect clearances
Preferred Qualifications:
- CLASS reliable observer certification (or willingness to obtain)
