SUMMARY

The Housekeeping/Laundry Aide is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, sanitary, and comfortable environment for residents, staff, and visitors. This position performs routine housekeeping and laundry duties in accordance with facility policies, infection prevention standards, and applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Clean and maintain resident rooms, common areas, offices, hallways, bathrooms, and other assigned areas.
• Perform routine dusting, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and sanitizing.
• Clean and disinfect high-touch surfaces and areas according to established infection control procedures.
• Collect, sort, wash, dry, fold, and distribute facility linens, towels, resident clothing, and other laundry items.
• Properly handle soiled and contaminated laundry in accordance with infection prevention and safety procedures.
• Maintain laundry and housekeeping supplies in an organized manner and notify the supervisor when supplies are low.
• Operate housekeeping and laundry equipment safely and appropriately.
• Follow established cleaning schedules and procedures.
• Respond promptly to spills, accidents, and other housekeeping needs.
• Assist with maintaining a clean and organized laundry and housekeeping area.
• Follow all OSHA, infection control, safety, and facility policies and procedures.
• Maintain respectful and professional interactions with residents, families, visitors, and coworkers.
• Report maintenance, safety, or environmental concerns to the appropriate supervisor.
• Assist with emergency situations and resident evacuation procedures as directed.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Housekeeping/Laundry Supervisor or Director.

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

• Previous housekeeping, laundry, healthcare, nursing home, hotel, or institutional cleaning experience preferred but not required.
• Experience working in a skilled nursing or long-term care facility is a plus.
• Knowledge of proper cleaning, sanitizing, and laundry procedures preferred.
• Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Must be dependable, responsible, and detail-oriented.
• Must demonstrate a positive attitude and willingness to work as part of a team.
• Must be able to communicate effectively with residents, families, visitors, and staff.
• Must maintain confidentiality and treat residents with dignity and respect.
• Must be able to work independently and manage assigned responsibilities efficiently.

• Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the workday.
• Must be able to bend, stoop, kneel, reach, push, pull, and lift as required.
• Must be able to lift and carry housekeeping and laundry supplies and equipment.
• Must be able to push and pull laundry carts and housekeeping equipment.
• Must be able to safely operate cleaning and laundry equipment.
• Must be able to work in environments involving exposure to cleaning products and soiled laundry while following appropriate safety procedures.
• May be required to assist with the evacuation of residents during emergency situations.
