Physical Therapy AssistantExeter - Exeter, NH 03833OverviewPosition Type: Full TimeDescriptionJob Title: Physical Therapy Assistant - Department: Rehab ServicesReports to: Director of Rehab Services - FLSA Status: Non-ExemptPosition Summary: Under supervision of the Rehabilitation Services Director and the Physical Therapist, the Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) is responsible for providing a full range of physical therapy services including therapeutic interventions in a team environment consistent with the position's qualifications, professional practices and ethical standards. The PTA shall also demonstrate accountability for and contribution to program development, quality improvement, problem solving and productivity enhancement in a flexible team fashion.Essential Functions Include But Are Not Limited To:Knowledge of the principles, methods, practices, techniques, equipment and procedures used in physical therapy.Provides treatment according to supervising therapist's treatment planCommunicates effectively to supervising staff member regarding patient progress, problems, and plansRecords daily treatment notes, updates goals, portions of monthly progress notes and discharge summaries timely and completelyCompletes required work capacity documentation prior to physician visits for patients with workers compensationRecords treatment changes in an accurate and timely mannerAdministers manual therapy and application of modalities and physical agentsInstructs, motivates, safeguards and assists patients through therapeutic exercise and functional activitiesObserves patients during treatments to collect and evaluate data on patient responses and progress updating the supervising therapist as needed/requestedAssist with supervising rehab aidesAssists in training new aide and PTA staffKnowledge of equipment and the ability to adjust equipment to suite patient's needs.Ability to maintain effective working relationships with staff and excellent communication skills in guiding patients to assume responsibility for their treatment and development.Ability to prioritize work.Knowledge of computers.QualificationsEducation & Qualifications:Required: New Hampshire PTA license, BCLSPreferred: Associates Degree from an accredited program.
