Mechanical Engineer

Summary A mechanical engineer designs, develops, builds, and tests mechanical and thermal devices-such as tools, engines, machines, and HVAC systems-using CAD, engineering analysis, and prototyping to ensure performance, safety, and manufacturability.


Core Responsibilities

• Design & Development: Create and refine mechanical designs for parts, assemblies, and systems using CAD software; develop prototypes and test them for performance, durability, and manufacturability
• Parts Engineering: Break down customer or system requirements into sub-system and part-level specifications; define verification criteria and plans for each component

• Testing & Analysis: Conduct experiments, failure analysis, and performance testing to identify deficiencies and recommend improvements

• Project Management: Oversee all phases of projects, from concept to production; coordinate with project managers, design teams, and operations to track resources and timelines
• Documentation & Compliance: Prepare technical documentation, part release/change management records, and compliance reports; maintain updated standards based on lessons learned
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with mechanical subsystem teams, service sites, and other departments to resolve technical issues and improve product reliability

Skills & Qualifications

• Technical Skills: Proficiency in CAD/CAM software, FEA, prototyping, and manufacturing processes; knowledge of aerospace, automotive, or industrial standards (e.g., MIL-STD, JEDEC, NASA)
• Analytical Skills: Strong problem-solving, design optimization, and cost-reduction abilities.
• Interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings
• Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or related field
