Job Title: Maintenance Electrician
Job Description
The Maintenance Electrician serves as the sole on-site electrician in a manufacturing facility, performing preventive and corrective maintenance on electrical systems and equipment. This role focuses on PLCs, conveyors, motors, and drives, with a strong emphasis on troubleshooting ladder logic in Allen Bradley and Siemens PLCs. The Maintenance Electrician works with high-voltage equipment and three-phase motors to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation of all production machinery.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the only on-site electrician and act as the primary point of contact for all electrical maintenance needs within the manufacturing facility.
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on PLC-controlled equipment, conveyors, motors, and AC/DC drives to minimize downtime and maintain efficient operations.
- Troubleshoot PLCs using ladder logic, primarily on Allen Bradley systems and, to a lesser extent, Siemens platforms, to identify and resolve control system issues.
- Diagnose and repair electrical issues involving 480V and higher-voltage equipment, ensuring safe work practices and adherence to electrical standards.
- Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair three-phase motors, which power the majority of the facility’s machinery.
- Work with DC drives, including troubleshooting and repair, to support continuous and reliable equipment performance.
- Perform electrical maintenance tasks such as running and installing conduit, wiring, and connections for new and existing equipment.
- Identify mechanical issues related to electrical equipment and perform basic mechanical repairs when necessary to restore equipment functionality.
- Document maintenance activities, repairs, and modifications to electrical systems to support reliability and future troubleshooting.
- Work independently with minimal supervision, prioritize tasks, and respond promptly to equipment issues as they arise on the production floor.
- Collaborate with production and maintenance personnel to understand equipment problems and implement effective electrical solutions.
Essential Skills
- At least 2 years of industrial electrical experience in a manufacturing or similar environment.
- Proven ability to work safely with higher voltage equipment at 480V and above.
- Hands-on experience with three-phase motors, including troubleshooting and repair.
- Strong PLC troubleshooting skills with the ability to read and interpret ladder logic.
- Experience working with Allen Bradley PLCs, with additional exposure to Siemens PLCs.
- Practical experience with AC and DC drives, including diagnostics and repair.
- Demonstrated electrical maintenance skills, including troubleshooting, repair, and system upkeep.
- Ability to perform basic mechanical repair tasks related to electrical equipment.
- Capability to install and work with conduit and related electrical infrastructure.
- Comfort working independently as the sole electrician on site, with limited direct supervision.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience programming PLCs is a strong plus and enhances the ability to optimize and modify control systems.
- Familiarity with ladder logic development and modification for process improvements.
- Experience in maintaining electrical systems within a manufacturing or industrial setting.
- Ability to interpret electrical schematics, diagrams, and documentation.
- Strong troubleshooting mindset with a methodical approach to diagnosing complex electrical issues.
Why Work Here?
You will join a manufacturing operation that relies on advanced, engineered products used in demanding off-highway access systems, giving you the opportunity to work on meaningful and technically engaging equipment. The role offers a high level of autonomy, allowing you to take ownership of the electrical function on site and make a direct impact on reliability and production uptime. You will work in an environment that values trust, independence, and accountability, where your expertise is recognized and relied upon daily. The company’s focus on engineered solutions provides ongoing exposure to specialized systems and the chance to continuously develop your technical skills.
Work Environment
This position is based in a manufacturing facility located in Sheridan, Arkansas. The facility is not climate controlled, and temperatures will vary with the seasons, though fans are used to help circulate air throughout the workspace. As the only electrician on site, you will work with a high degree of independence and will not be heavily managed, so you must be comfortable making decisions and prioritizing tasks on your own. The environment includes industrial machinery powered primarily by three-phase motors, PLC-controlled systems, and AC/DC drives, requiring regular hands-on work with electrical panels, conduit, and high-voltage equipment. You will spend most of your time on the production floor, working directly with equipment in an active manufacturing setting.
