AmericanAg®, a global provider of diversified reinsurance services, is looking for a Senior Reinsurance Underwriter to work out of our office in Schaumburg, Illinois. This is a hybrid position working in the office a minimum of three days a week. Travel for this position will be 20-30%. 

The Senior Reinsurance Underwriter role sits at the center of our portfolio underwriting work, with the visibility, client relationships, and latitude to make a real mark on the book of business. The Senior Reinsurance Underwriter will be responsible for:

• Developing and maintaining a comprehensive underwriting view of each ceding company’s portfolio through quantitative and qualitative analysis, including profitability, pricing, loss trends, concentrations, underwriting practices, emerging risks, and data quality
• Proactive engagement with our ceding companies to build and maintain strong, trusted relationships with their underwriting teams and leadership through regular engagement, open communication, and a thorough understanding of their business needs, priorities, and portfolio challenges
• Translating portfolio findings into practical recommendations on treaty terms, retentions, authority, referrals, facultative use, and renewal strategy to address client challenges and support profitable, sustainable growth
• Improving portfolio performance by analyzing treaty and facultative results, evaluating individual risks and referrals, identifying emerging trends and issues, and providing practical underwriting guidance
• Conducting underwriting audits and clearly communicating findings and recommendations to client underwriting teams and leadership
• Collaborating closely with clients and internal and external partners through underwriting reviews, renewal discussions, and other interactions to address portfolio challenges, share insights, and support client retention and development
• Supporting thought leadership and representing the organization through presentations, white papers, industry events, networking, and other opportunities that strengthen our position as a trusted reinsurance partner

What is required for this role:

• Bachelor’s degree
• 3+ years of property and casualty reinsurance experience, with direct reinsurance underwriting experience strongly preferred
• Multiline treaty reinsurance or primary insurance underwriting experience, including experience with portfolio analytics
• Associate in Reinsurance (ARe), Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU), or another relevant professional designation
• Knowledge of property and casualty treaty and facultative reinsurance, with the ability to independently evaluate complex underwriting matters and portfolio performance
• Excellent written, verbal, presentation, and relationship-development skills, with the confidence to engage regularly with clients and support retention and marketing efforts
• Sound judgment, accountability, attention to detail, and the ability to manage priorities independently and collaboratively
• Proficiency with Microsoft Suite products, including Power BI, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word 

The expected starting salary range for this position is between $115,000 and $140,000. Applicable salary ranges may differ across markets. Actual pay will be determined based on experience and other job-related factors permitted by law. This position is also eligible for an annual productivity bonus.
