Public Works Laborer

Summary Minimum Starting Salary is $16.4565 hourly, depending on qualifications. The City of Waco seeks a reliable candidate to assist with the care and maintenance of City parks and public grounds. This role performs unskilled and semi‑skilled labor, basic landscaping, and general park upkeep. Minimum Qualifications Valid Texas Driver's License. Preferred Qualifications 1 year of experience in landscaping/grounds keeping. Position Overview Under close supervision, performs unskilled and semi‑skilled general labor work in cleaning and maintenance of City parks and grounds. Essential Functions Performs unskilled and semi‑skilled manual labor tasks to maintain a safe and attractive park system; maintains park facilities and grounds, enforces rules and regulations, and follows all safety rules and regulations to minimize risk of accidents; duties may vary according to job assignment. Operates basic equipment and performs tasks including weed control, mowing, and watering; cleans trash and debris, cleans facilities; prunes and trims trees and shrubs; loads and hauls materials. Maintains tools and equipment; reports unsafe acts, conditions, accidents, and injuries; performs emergency cleaning and maintenance work as directed. Operates a City vehicle to travel to assigned locations and transport personnel, tools, and equipment required for routine park maintenance, including trash pickup, weed eating, edging, and use of a blower, as well as emergency park maintenance duties. Follows all current City of Waco Safety policies and procedures.
