Job Description

This role focuses on installing, , welding, assembling, and dismantling overhead cranes and their supporting structural steel at industrial and manufacturing client sites. You will work as part of a small crew to interpret layout plans and blueprints, perform structural steel fabrication, and complete high‑quality welding to ensure safe and reliable crane systems.

Responsibilities

• Install, assemble, and dismantle overhead cranes and the structural steel that supports them at industrial and manufacturing client sites.
• Install and erect structural steel according to layout plans and blueprints.
• Read and interpret blueprints to determine dimensions, materials, and installation requirements.
• Perform flux core and MIG welding on structural steel components to meet quality and safety standards.
• Fabricate, modify, and fit structural steel components as required for crane installations.
• Work as part of a 2–3 person crew, including a foreman, to complete projects efficiently and safely.
• Travel to job sites, typically within approximately two hours of the main shop, and occasionally stay overnight for multi‑day projects.
• Work in both active and inactive manufacturing and industrial facilities while following all site safety procedures.
• Use appropriate tools and equipment for construction, steel erection, welding, and millwright-related tasks.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area at job sites and in the shop.

Essential Skills

• At least 2 years of experience as a flux core welder.
• At least 2 years of experience reading and working from blueprints.
• Proficiency with flux core welding on structural steel.
• Experience with MIG welding on structural steel components.
• Ability to install, assemble, and dismantle structural steel according to layout plans.
• Ability to interpret and follow construction drawings and layout plans accurately.
• Background in construction, steel erection, or millwright work.
• Ability to work safely and effectively in industrial and manufacturing environments.
• Capability to work as part of a small field crew on installation projects.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience as a millwright or in related mechanical installation roles.
• Hands-on experience in construction and steel erection environments.
• Experience with welding processes including MIG and flux core welding in the field.
• Ability to travel to various job sites and stay overnight a few nights per month as needed.
• Comfort working at heights and around heavy industrial equipment.
• Strong teamwork, communication, and problem‑solving skills in a field setting.
• Adaptability to changing job sites, schedules, and project requirements.

Work Environment

This position is based out of a shop location and primarily supports projects at active and inactive manufacturing and industrial facilities. Work is performed in 2–3 person crews, including a foreman, in environments that may involve noise, heavy equipment, and varying weather conditions depending on the site. The role involves field construction, steel erection, welding, and millwright-type tasks. Safety glasses are provided, and no specific certifications, medical monitoring, or steel-toe footwear are required by the employer for this position.

This is a Permanent position based out of Wausau, WI.

The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $28.00/hr.

This is a fully onsite position in Wausau,WI.
