Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) - Acute Therapy

$23.19 - $38.73 per hour

Overview The Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant treats patients of all ages, and serves as a role model in the delivery of professional services and as a clinical resource for staff and students. Qualifications Associate's Degree in Occupational Therapy Assistant Licensed Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) – Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR) Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days – American Heart Association (AHA) Attend and satisfactorily complete all required continuing education regarding the care of acute stroke patients. Experience 1+ years Responsibilities Follow the therapist's plan of care, adjust the treatment based on patient response and available evidence only after communicating with the evaluating therapist and documenting that communication in the daily note. Implement intervention plans that are patient-centered, occupation-based, and modified according to patient response, demonstrating a sequential plan of treatment activities, taking into consideration the functional and emotional needs of the patient and family and within the allotted time. Adapt activities to meet physical, cognitive, and/or behavioral limitations and change treatment approach with consideration to the environment and outcomes being addressed. Collaborate with patient, family, and significant others throughout the occupational therapy process. Educate patients, family, caregivers, students, and other health care providers using relevant and effective teaching methods. Actively collaborate with the occupational therapist and seek direction with the OTR. Produce clear, objective, and accurate documentation that uses professional language, provides support for decisions made, and provides necessary information to payers. Participate in activities addressing quality of service delivery. Clearly and effectively communicate verbally and nonverbally with patients, families, significant others, colleagues, service providers, and the public. Communicate with other team members as needed regarding patient progress and serve as a resource for conflict resolution. When applicable, complete annual education as assigned to comply with DNV Hip and Knee Replacement Program requirements. Department Specific Job Functions Implement intervention plans according to the treatment plan established by the Occupational Therapist, utilizing activities that are functional in nature and take into consideration the functional and emotional needs of the patient/family. Modify approach in response to patient behavior and performance. Utilize standardized outcome measures in a uniform manner to ensure functional performance is accurately reflected. Complete documentation in accordance with regulatory and organizational standards. Collaborate with patient, family and significant others throughout the rehabilitation process and provide education/family training as necessary. Communicate with supervising Occupational Therapist regarding any changes in patient status, change in functional performance, or requested change to the treatment plan. Clearly communicate patient performance, change in status, activity/transfer recommendations, and recommendations for discharge disposition and equipment required for the next level of care with the medical team. Compensation and Benefits The compensation range for this position is $23.19 per hour - $38.73 per hour. This represents a good faith minimum and maximum range for the role at the time of posting by Carle Health. The actual compensation offered to a candidate will be dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s experience, qualifications, location, training, licenses, shifts worked and compensation model.
