Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Cardiac Telemetry Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-hour Days Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS Must-Have: Level 1 Trauma experience. Natural hair color and no facial piercings. Men must be clean-shaven for fit test. Pass dysrhythmia exam prior to acceptance. Competence in Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes. Description: The position requires Registered Nurses with telemetry experience in a cardiac unit. RNs will care for patients with cardiac stepdown needs, lung transplants, and other cardiovascular conditions. The nurse-patient ratio is 1:3-4 depending on the acuity of assignments. Nurses must interpret EKG using Philips monitors. IV Team is available for difficult IV sticks. Respiratory Therapy and Pharmacy are available 24/7. Travelers may float to other telemetry units as needed. Weekend requirements include working 3 out of 4 weekends in a 4-week period. Holidays will be worked into the holiday rotation. The position includes passing a skills assessment for maintaining sterile fields. Those who do not demonstrate competence in specified areas may not be a good fit. Common patient diagnoses include cardiac issues and post-surgical care. Travelers do not take on transplant patients or titrate medications. The hospital reserves the right to cancel up to 4 shifts during the assignment. Candidates must have a valid nursing license to apply.
