Registered Nurse - Operating Room

Job Description

Job Summary:
Provide specialized perioperative nursing care in the operating room environment, supporting surgical procedures across multiple specialties including bariatrics, orthopedics, and general surgery. Ensure patient safety, prepare operating rooms, and assist in maintaining a sterile environment.

Responsibilities:

• Administer patient care before, during, and after surgical procedures, adhering to proven clinical protocols.
• Prepare operating rooms by ensuring all necessary supplies, equipment, and sterile techniques are in place.
• Assist surgical teams by passing instruments, handling specimens, and maintaining sterile fields throughout surgeries.
• Monitor patient vital signs and respond swiftly to any intraoperative changes or emergencies.
• Document patient information, surgical procedures, and relevant observations accurately in compliance with hospital policies.
• Adhere to all safety protocols, including medication administration via Pyxis and compliance with infection control standards.

Qualifications:

• Valid SC RN license with a minimum of 2 years recent perioperative experience, including surgical assisting.
• At least 1 year of EPIC EMR experience is required.
• Current BLS certification and proficiency in sterile technique and surgical protocols.
• Ability to work 4x10 hour shifts with flexibility for call requirements including weekends and holidays.
• Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with surgical teams and staff.
