Main Street Veterinary Hospital is looking for a full-time Veterinary Assistant or Registered Veterinary Technician who wants more than their next job. We're hoping to find someone who might just be looking for their veterinary home.

What We're Looking For

We are considering both experienced Veterinary Assistants and Registered Veterinary Technicians (RVTs) for this full-time position. Responsibilities and level of independence will be based on experience, training, licensure, and demonstrated competency.

Experience & Skills

Previous veterinary hospital or clinical experience is preferred. RVT candidates should hold a current North Carolina registration or be eligible to obtain one. Experience with Covetrus Pulse practice management software is a big plus!

Depending on experience and role, skills may include:

• Compassionate patient handling, including Fear Free and low-stress techniques
• Obtaining patient histories and assisting with appointments
• Venipuncture, IV catheter placement, and sample collection
• In-house laboratory testing and diagnostic imaging
• Medication preparation and administration
• Surgical preparation, anesthesia monitoring, and patient recovery
• Treatment plan implementation
• Client education and communication
• Maintaining clean, organized, patient-ready work areas

You don't need to walk through our doors knowing everything. We care about what you already know, but we care just as much about your willingness to learn.

Physical & Scheduling Requirements

This is a full-time, on-site position in a small-animal veterinary hospital. Candidates must be able to safely perform the physical responsibilities of veterinary patient care, including prolonged standing, bending, kneeling, reaching, patient restraint, and safely lifting or assisting with animals and equipment.

Regular and dependable attendance is an essential part of this position. Scheduling may include varying shifts based on hospital and patient-care needs.
