General Considerations and Practices: The Station is a single unit independent operation and unable to assist with relocation expenses. There is a Probational Period of Ninety Days (90) for all hires and all promotions. Positions are only posted for a two-week period, but may be extended at the discretion of the Station. A universal requirement of all staff members is maintaining the operation of a 24/7 around-the-clock non-profit broadcasting facility consistent with each individual’s knowledge and skills of the wide range of tasks required in a small business, where all assist with varying tasks and responsibilities as business needs require. Finally, additional positive personal attributes include devotion to the Mission of the Station, a love classical music, working knowledge of languages common to classical music (for announcer positions), experience with non-profit organizations, and any other skills, avocations, and experience which one wishes to share with the Station and its supporters. Strict adherence to safety protocols and Federal, State, county, Local, and Station rules and regulations is required. Because our Station is on the air 24/7, work at any time and/or day may be required. Must have excellent interpersonal skills and work well in a team environment. Workplace is the Station. Position may be either part‑time or full‑time. The ability to work independently in the absence of supervision, to understand and follow oral and written instructions, and to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing, is required. The ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work, including listeners and donors, is required; included are skills such as language, spelling, and grammar. We are currently seeking candidates for the following positions: The Classical Station is seeking individuals for its Volunteer Announcer Training Program, which provides qualified participants a valuable education in broadcasting techniques. Announcer trainees will attend a series of in‑person announcer training sessions covering proper technique, as well as the operation of our broadcast studio equipment and 100,000‑watt transmitter. Candidates should have a good voice and clear diction. Prior experience is a plus, but not required. Air shifts for fully trained volunteer announcers will primarily be available evenings and weekends. To begin, applicants should submit a resume. Candidates who move forward in the process will undergo an in‑person interview, and must pass an announcer audition, where they will receive instruction from a member of the WCPE Programming team. Those who pass the audition will be accepted into our volunteer announcer training program, a series of six two‑hour classes, beginning on a weeknight to be determined later, and held between 7:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. Classes will be conducted at WCPE Studios, 1928 Chalk Rd. between Wake Forest and Rolesville.
