JOB SUMMARY The Medical Oncologist specializes in the diagnosis, treatment and management of various forms of cancer. This position is responsible for providing compassionate, patient-centered care in an outpatient clinic setting, guiding patients and their support networks through complex diagnoses and treatment decisions. OUTPATIENT INFUSION DEPARTMENT The Outpatient Infusion department currently operates Tues - Thurs. The Provider's schedule has the ability to be very flexible depending on their preferences. A combination of in person and TeleMed visits are on option. RESPONSIBILITIES Evaluating and diagnosing patients with various types and stages of cancer Developing, implementing and monitoring individualized treatment plans Providing education and guidance to patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatment options, side effects and prognosis Collaborating with Infusion RNs to safely oversee the administration of chemotherapy and other infusion therapies Coordinating care with primary care providers, surgeons, radiologists, pathologists and palliative care teams as needed Participating in tumor boards, case reviews and quality improvement initiatives Maintaining accurate, thorough documentation in the electronic medical record Remaining current with best practices, treatment protocols and clinical research in oncology Contributing to a culture of excellence, empathy and patient empowerment throughout the cancer care continuum If you're a compassionate provider with a passion for clinical excellence and delivering high-quality, patient-centered cancer care, we’d love to hear from you! QUALIFICATIONS Medical degree (MD or DO) with current licensure or eligibility for licensure in the State of Oregon required Fellowship training in Medical Oncology required Board Certification in Medical Oncology preferred; must be obtained within three (3) years if not currently certified Valid DEA registration and active enrollment in the Oregon Prescription Drug Monitoring Program (PDMP) Current BLS/CPR certification or ability to obtain prior to start date Commitment to ongoing professional development, including completion of required annual trainings and continuing medical education (CME) as mandated by state and federal regulations Strong clinical judgment, communication and interpersonal skills with a compassionate approach to patient care Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team and adapt to a rural healthcare setting Demonstrated ability to provide compassionate, patient-centered care across diverse populations Ability to meet the physical and functional requirements outlined in the job description High School Diploma or equivalent required Must successfully pass a criminal background check, drug screen and reference checks EEOC/ACCOMMODATION STATEMENT Wallowa County Health Care District is a drug and alcohol-free workplace and an Equal Opportunity Employer.
