Information Assurance Specialist

Information Assurance Specialist Cyber threats are ubiquitous and constantly evolving, creating complex challenges for the Army. As an Information Security Risk Specialist, you will help the Army identify cyber risks, interpret applicable policies, and develop mitigation plans. Your work will integrate secure practices such as PKI, Identity and Access Management, multi‑factor authentication, service‑oriented architectures, and network or web‑related protocols. You will also apply NIST security controls, governance, risk‑management, and compliance documentation, and leverage the Risk Management Framework to protect the Army’s enterprise networks. Responsibilities

• Assess risks, evaluate threat landscapes, and translate findings into actionable mitigation strategies.
• Apply NIST 800‑53 controls and manage security configuration, practices, and procedures.
• Conduct tools assessments and configuration analyses against best practices, vendor specifications, and government guidelines.
• Oversee the implementation of security controls, including eMASS or Xacta IA Manager.
• Perform risk analyses, prepare assurance cases, and support security authorization reviews for new systems and networks.
• Draft tool implementation CONOPS, review topologies and vulnerability scans, and advise on risk.

Qualifications 3+ years of experience as an ISSO or Information System Security Analyst (ISSA) 3+ years of experience conducting tools assessments and configuration analysis against best practices, vendor specifications, and government security guidelines and requirements Experience with the implementation, oversight, and maintenance of security configuration practices and procedures for systems Experience implementing controls from NIST 800‑53 Experience with eMASS or Xacta IA Manager Ability to perform risk analysis TS/SCI clearance High school diploma or GED DoD 8570 IAT Level II Certification (e.g., CCNA‑Security, Security+, CySA+, or SSCP) Nice If You Have Experience with DoD security technical implementation guides (STIGs), checklists, and testing tools such as STIG Viewer, SCAP, and ACAS scanning tool Experience assessing configuration changes for new COTS tools or web application upgrades Experience drafting tool implementation CONOPS and reviewing tool or capability topologies, CONOPS, and vulnerability scans Experience with cyber‑related tools such as Ansible, Terraform, Splunk, or STIG Viewer Ability to plan and conduct security authorization reviews and assurance case development for initial installations Ability to work within a collaborative team in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment Excellent written, organizational, presentation, and verbal communication skills Cyber‑management certifications such as CGRC, CISM, or CISSP Clearance Applicants selected will undergo a security investigation. TS/SCI clearance is required. Compensation Salary range: $62,000–$141,000 (annualized USD). Compensation is based on location, education, experience, and contract requirements.
