SAFETY & OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH SPECIALIST

Duties
Conduct compliance inspections of activity worksites to identify operational, facility, or system safety and occupational health deficiencies.
Evaluate and advise on safety and occupational health surveillance and enforcement programs to ensure compliance with regulatory guidelines and OSHA safety standards.
Review safety training programs to ensure compliance with standards, policies, and regulations.
Investigate accidents and incidents causing injury or property damage and hazardous conditions that may cause serious injury or death.
Determine origin, causes, and/or contributing elements associated with safety and health violations.
Analyze mishap trends to determine a need for additional safety training for both Military and Civilian personnel.
Implement/monitor comprehensive ammunition, explosives, industrial, radiation, range safety and occupational health management programs in support of ATEC test missions.
Conduct safety risk assessments of chemical, electrical, and physical worksite safety hazards and develop procedures to mitigate and/or eliminate those hazards.
Develop/implement accident prevention programs designed to reduce the frequency, severity, and cost of accidents and occupational illnesses in support of ATEC test missions.
